Signup vs. (bulk) Clicks

Hello

I am getting the impression that most webmasters prefer getting paid pr. signup
rather than pr. (bulk) click. Why is this?

The argument I have heard most often is "unless you have really low traffic, it will not pay off". Am I missing something?

I get around 10.000 uniques on a site offering free movie/picture downloads. All my traffic comes from link sites that only accept 100% free sites into their indexes.
My personal experience shows that this traffic converts very badly into signups, since the user is browsing for free pornography - and comes from a huge listing of just this.

But hey, I bet most of your sites (which you use for clicktrough programs anyway) are free as well - so why is signups working so well?

Feel free to ignore this message if it is too blurry, haven't had an hour sleep in 2 days ;-)

Regards,
