It doesn't. Most productions simply don't have the budget to license good music. They have one of their guys mess around on a program like Acid and make some loops. If its good enough for a Jenna Jameson movie (acid loops that is) than one could argue that it would be acceptable for all productions not as high in profile.

Then there's the other half that just steal music, much like many here used to steal images in the early to mid 90's without licensing them.

My opinion is that there isn't a lot of work for music peeps in the adult industry, wether it be internet or video based.

Maybe I'm wrong and someone else can enlighten us, but I haven't seen much of a market for music in adult. I wish it were different, because I am musically inclined.

The short answer is it doesn't...no "legit" record label would ever allow one of their group's songs to be licensed for porn...think about it -- why has porn music always been so cheezy and bad??

You'd have to get local/"undiscovered" acts that don't care about being associated with adult biz and ask them to license a tune from their cataloge...it's that simple.

Budget constraints are the other factor.

We get all our licenses from Rock bands that we know and who are coming up in the industry. People who need plugs for their website through our movies, DVDs, VHS titles that come out. What are you looking for? Anything in particular?

there isn't any future in licensing music to adult movie studios, as somebody said there's no room in their budgets for even 1000 bucks for good music. Gotta find unsigned talent who will let you use their music for maybe a couple hundred bucks and a credit and maybe a link to their website. Things have improved a bit in porn videos since the days of the cheesey music - i hear alot of rap music on adult DVDs, some decent rock and alot of digital stuff like MikeCE says, done with AcidLoops and similar software.

I have had friends who were in unsigned rock bands create some custom music for me for a small amount of money and other talented peple compose music on their computers too in the past. But I mostly just use royalty free licensed music loops that I bought on CD to use over trailers and shorter scenes. I'm thiking about acquiring more soon.
