![]() There was a shitload of Microsoft Security Patch Updates Today.. But Is it making any difference?
Im not even sure if its stopping the exploits, and its certainly not removing the existing ones already on the affected PCS. I dont see any signup differences.. Are the new updates even addressing the issue affecting us at hand with stolen signup pages, etc, or were they more just for stoping the popups and spyware-adware ad popups which i really could care less about.

Hmm.. well since I've never had a problem before the patches, I guess I could say that they're working beautifully!!!
Similarly, the paperweight I keep on my desk is still working GREAT at keeping me protected from cougar attacks ![]() ![]() |

Well it's a good question, bone.. I'm not sure anyone can answer yet though.
Has anyone looked carefully at the code to see if it is stopping auto-installs or anything? I've always found that keeping security levels high, and changing the default activeX controller installer settings to PROMPT or NEVER is the best way to go.. |

But you as an affilate or paysite owner would. Its very stealth. Im not talking adware here that popups silly ads. Im talking about an exploit that enters a surfers registry and instils itself to redirect signup pages or switch refs, cookies, urls to the signup pages not only from the affialtes, or the paysite owners, but the billing companies as well. You as a surfer wont even know you are infected. The fucking anto-spyware adware systems dont even look for it. But it was my understanding Microsoft knows of this exploit and was addressing it. Weather they addressed it with this new shitload of security updates today remains to be seen. I was just wondering if anyone knew or not if it has been addressed in todays update.

Well, I do earn money as an affiliate, and I'm totally familiar with the join page swaps and cookie theft that has been due to auto-spyware installs.
corvett might be one to ask.. But if he just looks at overall sales he might not notice either. When I've checked some of the other examples posted on here of swapped codes from my PC, I havent noticed anything unusual from tour splash to processor join page. I'm sure I havent seen em all though, but one thing is for sure, allowing activex auto-installs when you know it's a client-side job is like holding the door wide open.. |

Most creative coders know what im talking about. I know some of the most crative and crafty programers in the biz and this shit even baffels them. Scarry shit. And its stealing from us. And there's currently no way to protect ourselves. It really targets all surfers who use Microsoft Explorer. All the coders I know refuse to even use Microsoft browsers now. They all use Firefox. And this shit scares them enough to switch I think its something we should consider as well. But the problem is the majority of surfers us Microsoft Browsers. Always will. So its up to microsoft to create a fix and a block for this. ITs really gone on way too long. I only hope this latest update did the job.

I've posted this before, I do service calls for a few big ISP's from time to time.. I'd say 70% of the calls are related to people with spyware. It's insane how bad this shit has gotten. I've seen computers that could barley run with all the ad aware and I've also seen some of the affiliate ID swaps.. in fact smoky posted one a few days ago..
I can say one thing for sure. The program owners may not see a big difference in sign ups right away. However the affiliates are seeing it, when they stop sending hits to programs because their codes are jacked..The programs will start taking notice. Because the hi jacker's aren't sending shit for traffic they are stealing it. The program owners really need to start keep track of who is sending them traffic and where it's coming from.

But id say over 70% of the program owners have no fucking clue as to what we are talking about. And you think the billing companies are gunna inform em? And do you think they will listen to the affiliates? ![]() Again we are all in the fate of Microsoft. Microsoft is God.

And with that said I think the patches are more for the adware and spyware installs. To make the surfers PCs run smoother and without the popups and shit.. Which really I could care less about. But I doubt the issue that affects us with the signup hijacking was as much a priority to Microsoft to address.

I'm not sure if the updates fixed it, but for fun I installed the SP2 beta... and it does stop it. Also stops all pop-ups, pop-unders... hell, flash ads, dialer / toobar prompts... it stops almost all sales efforts sans direct linking.
Things will being changing soon... granted, not every surfer at home is going to install it or have a near up to date system, but it could take big chunks out of everyones money. As a surfer, SP2 is great, as a webbie... shit fuck hell, time to redo some things. |

I know what you're talking about and as usual the best way to hunt down and find this shit is 'follow the money'...however that is more of a task than can be imagined unless you're a secret agent mannnnnn

The reason was he was he is still on windows 98 first edition which doesnt support windows media 9 . We have a ton of members like this.

Pick updates to install
There are no critical updates available at this time. However, Windows Update has found other updates for your computer. To browse through these updates and select the ones you want to install, click a category title in the list. I guess you were talking about the updates that were released last night. No the updates didnt fix anything. Here on my pc i have 4 remote root exploits for ie explorer. They allow people to run exe files on your computer with you just loading the page. I have another exploit that will allow a person to import favorites and change your home page. And those are just the ones that have been made public on a few security sites. Microsoft really needs to get it together, hopefully these exploits dont fall into the hands of kids like mediatickets and the other spyware companies that just love to fuck peoples computers up. |
