1. Invest $300 in a decent, low end camera, card, and card reader. You can pick up an Olympus 3030 on ebay for $150.
2. Snap 1500 pics of your girlfriend- cutsy strip tease, toys, bj if she's willing.
3. Use your skills to build an amateur personality site around your g/f. Enlist her to help with the text to make it real and believable.
4. Join an avs like proadult, or an amateur network like Wild Rose Network . They specialize in amateur sites that are just starting out. They will give you hosting, billing, traffic, and whatever support you need to get your site going. They will keep 40% to cover their efforts and expenses.
5. Cash checks, and pay back your loan.

Total outlay: $300 and some elbow grease

It's not that hard to get a foot in the door of the paysite business. Once you're on your feet, get your own billing if you wish, but this is a great low risk way for people to begin.

Today is loan day :)

Let us know how things work out.

I've been very surprised by the responses in this thread, maybe GFY is maturing ??

Here is my advice, be creative and think outside the box. If your going to be creating sites, don't follow the herd. Try something different e.g. don't make a TGP

Just don't copy what everyone else is doing, if you try something different or new it has a much better chance of success if its a good idea.

Good luck :thumbsup

I have some ideas, I want to get something semi-regular going first though. Don't worry about thinking outside the box, I'm gonna be around for quite some time. :winkwink:

Glad you like it, I think there's been a lot of solid advice given here... which kind of came as a shock. I hope I can give even more useful info when things get going and I have some results to share. Thanks a lot. :)

Btw you could make decent cash by doing grunt work for other people, stuff like building free sites and doing submissions, updating paysites, reviewing TGP submissions

There is always people on GFY looking for people to do daily tasks, I know for a fact it would pay better than your $7 an hour job. So if you got a few jobs from webmasters here you could quit your day job, gain experience doing daily tasks for other webmasters while working on your own stuff also.

Plus (I hate myself for saying this) but you can make money on GFY being a sig whore, if your actually contributing to threads and not posting stupid shit like other sig whores do people won't mind too much. There is another revenue stream, ditch your normal job a.s.a.p if you can get a few little jobs lined up dude

fr8 07-26-2004 08:21 PM

Im sure there is a great number of people that is in your current situation. Alot of people will learn from this thread as it grows. Ive already learned a few things from it myself as I am one of the few in this current situation. So good luck and invest wisely.

Sethseekstruth 07-26-2004 08:24 PM

If 2k is low, what do you think of my site?

www.masterseth.com

Yes, so far it's getting me about $300 a month, so in a while I'll have 2k, and learn from this guys mistakes

Dude---good job, bold statement, fuck the haters

Hmm... I'll give it some thought, but don't you think I'd be able to make more doing all that grunt work for myself instead? I see your point though, this is kind of a...safer option than quitting my job then going all on my own. I do have a copy of advanced submitter so doing submissions wouldn't be too bad to even do on top of my own work... As far as sig whoring goes... the only way I'll feel alright about having a ref code in my sig is if the program is doind very well for me. So, we'll see how it goes. Thanks a lot for your input though.:thumbsup

What do I think of your site? I think you need a new design. In all honesty, the first thing I thought when I went to it was "how is this guy making any money?" The background images need to go, and from a surfers point of view it needs to be easier to navigate.
I do some design myself, as you know if you read everything I've said in previous pages. However, I'm going to have my hands more than full in the next 2 or 3 weeks.

But I'll tell ya what, once I have some free time, I'll make you a new design for your site. I'll do one up and give it to you for free. You can use it, or throw it the hell out if you'd like. Sound alright to you?

I truely hope you do learn from any mistakes I make, and I hope what I do, and the advice people give me, help you to start making a lot more than $300 a month. Thanks for your thoughts.

No prob :) Diversify, Diversify, Diversify !! The more revenue streams you have the better. Also if you build up some traffic for a few websites also sell some ad spots. Doing grunt work for other people will give you experience (while making you money guarenteed money each month) not only that but your building contacts and networking.

Obviously do your own stuff as well, but by doing 'grunt work' your gonna be making more money than your regular job if you get a few jobs lined up, also that money can potentially be payed via paypal or epassporte so no tax to pay on that revenue potentially :Graucho

Btw if your any decent at webdesign or graphics, this is the place to get work at a very good rate !

Checked my voicemail a little bit ago, got some shitty news. Application was denied, the bank can offically lick my asshole. Offically. :321GFY

They do offer another unsecured loan at about double the APR. I could go and apply for that one...which they'd probably give me because then they could rape me with intrest. However, all the talk here about people starting with $0 got me thinkiing.

So, I'm gonna give it a go starting without an initial investment. I'll post some updates when there's updates to post.

MetaMan 07-27-2004 10:59 PM

That sucks man... sorry to hear that.

Best of Luck

creegan 07-28-2004 08:37 AM

good luck bro. i was there.

just remember... in this industry $2k may as well be $0. if you can't make it with $0... you get the point

look at how many people in this thread alone started with nothing but a $20 shared or virtual and notepad.exe not too long ago and now push good volume

do you have any skills that make you employable to anyone around here? it's pretty easy to make $2k off of odd jobs

polish_aristocrat 07-28-2004 08:40 AM

Halo, i can give you 2-3 free domains, if you promisse to sign up to some sponsors under me.

TheMob 07-28-2004 08:42 AM

if you can pull it off without the loan you'll feel much better and you can keep all the money you make.. good luck!

McKracken 07-28-2004 09:07 AM

Hey mate,

like your style.

My story is I made my first money in the online ebook business.... mainstream...

hit me up on icq and I'll teach/guide you on how I started with $200 no idea, no design skills and made my first nice paycheck in month 2 of my adventure...

I'll spit the beans as to how I did it and how you can do it!

Good luck!

lickmymonster 07-28-2004 11:32 AM

Halo

I would be willing to bet you will be doing
well with out the bank loan.

:glugglug

KCat 07-28-2004 12:11 PM

Don't go for the high interest loan. Just put in some elbow grease.

If I was starting with no money today, I'd go AVS. Use free content from sponsors, submit a new site every day & link them all back to a central hub that upsells to the premium recurring program. Make a couple of doorways for each site & sign them up to toplists, link lists etc.

Almost all AVSs offer free hosting. Some offer free TGP & MGP hosting, plus free content. It's a great way to learn how to build sites, how to promote sites with only a time investment.

Bama 08-17-2004 06:01 PM

I gotta admit - you haven't said much to impress me about your skills though you don't seem to hesitate pointing out what you feel are players who are already in the game are making.....

You should stop your porn endeavors and become a sportswriter. They're great analysts of a game they've never themselves played.

The smart man might have tried going the free-host route and put their methods and sponors to the test before asking for a loan.

If you can't generate $2,000.00 from using freehosts - you don't need to suit up.
