What is better: The owner of a lonely heart, or a broken heart?

Hard choice.

Is it better to be oblivious/unaware to pain, yet not able to enjoy life to it's fullest extent. Or have such great times with that person, it outweights/justifies the future heartbreak.

**In case you didn't notice, this thread was completely inspired by the Yes "Owner of a lonely heart" song.

Owner of a lonely heart
Much better than - a
Owner of a broken heart

I think it is better to be the owner of a broke heart than a lonely heart. It's better to be experianced than it is to be unaware. IMO

My girl and I just broke up about an hour ago. I really don't know what I would pick.

Maybe, but as the other saying goes "you never miss what you never had".

Both statements sum up each opposing arguement nicely. But I am going to have to agree with rdunn. Love is not a necessity, but rather a want. A security blanket if you will. Perhaps that's an underestimate, but when all is said and done - Chemically, love is no more than overindulgence of chocolate.

To not fall deeply in love, does not inhibit you from sustaining and mainting a "fair" relationship. It does not keep you from enjoying what you do in fact have. The life you in do in fact, LIVE. While a broken heart, can leave you in shambles emotionally for years.

It's either aware & sad or oblivious & happy . I think the ladder of the two, as unfortunate as it is, allows you to enjoy life - Regardless of how limited/skewed your perspective is. Worth the sacrifice to be a "sheep" per se.

How about having loved, gained those experiences, including had hearts broken as well as your own...

What would the answer be then?
I think alot more in & about relations than before, a bit more critically simply.

But when it's all good, it's..

Loneliness can be just as painful as a heart break.. At least you can enjoy the love for as long as it lasts
