Webair 10Mbit for $199 - can anyone come close?

Can anyone come close to this deal? I prefer 5mbit but that seems to be a pretty uncommon number. $199 a month is the best I've seen. And its managed so I dont have to fix the fucker.

$199? Its $399 for 10Mbit. Or are u talking just BW with no server? Even at that, $199 is almost free.

It's a good deal and webair is the best. Even if someone else matches it, webair will usually match or beat anyone else

By shared, they are talking about sharing the server. Hence virtual.

It is in essensce a shared connection however, as there are other users on that server sharing it with... thats why virtual(shared hosting) is so cheap.

guys don't waste your time , you cannot come close to webair.

if you do it for 100$ they will do it for 99$ and add all the services and the 100% uptime that NO OTHER HOST could ever deliver .

been with them for 5 years and even if i was proposed a server with double features for half the price at another host i would refuse .

just my

Considering theyre overselling the 10mbps as it is now, why would they have any more problems overselling even more?

You think if someone were to actually use 10Mbps theyd make any profit? More like lose money... 10Mbps for $19/mbps is unrealistic and anyone can keep dropping prices and oversell at higher degrees

You have a referral code in your sig for webair??.

Magg is also on the right track. They are just over selling the same 10 meg bandwidth to multiple people. They are NOT going to sell you your own 10 megs for 19 bucks a meg

yeah i have a refcode in my sig , i don't work for webair , i'm a customer , and if you've been around for some time you would not be saying inept assumptions about the best webhost there is for ADULT sites. been in the game long enough to loose good amounts of traffic and money on hosts that were all over the place but couldn't deliver what they promised .

WEBAIR IS THE ONLY HOST WHO NEVER SCREWED ANY WEBMASTER out of false promises ! PeRiOd !

as for my refcode , i would be a fool not to put it in my sig as if anyone tries them i will still be making a % of the deal in ten years from now , unlike other hosting companies where people move in and out, people who have their boxes with them never leave. and i'm a bitch when it comes to customer care, you can ask their techs about me.

our 'inept assumptions'?

It is a pretty much known fact that you will be very very hard pressed to come up on a GigE of *ANY* carriers bandwidth for $19/mbps much less a virtual client getting it for only 10Mbps.

You'll be hard pressed to find 200Mbps at $25/mbps as offered in my sig ANYWHERE (especially with our mix of carriers and our SLA) either, that is of course without overselling being taken into account - and when it is, you arnt getting your full bandwidth in the first place.

Im not dogging webair, just stating the obvious facts.

nothing is wrong with overselling bandwidth.. everyone does it (even your local phone company) .. the fact is most people don't use all their commit ... you lose on some customers but gain on others.. its just math.

That is true Donnie, but there always differant business models

I'd rather have available the bandwidth they paid for, incase they all do decide to utilize their full commits, and still make a return which is enough to cover the next semester of equipment and utility bills

With overselling, you're always taking a risk.

1. They have not had 100% uptime over the past few months.

2. My account got put on hold whilst I was on vacation and when I got back and asked them to restore it they said they had backup failures and had lost the lost, everything!

3. I replied to their email asking for further intructions only to find that they had closed the ticket as "resolved" :-(

4. I left and went to servermatrix

first time i ever hear such story about them, really, out of curiosity what did you run on your server scriptwise?
i mean i reffered a dozen people ( not even on refcode ) and know heaps of webmasters using them and never heard such horror story , are you sure it was not cologroup?

i mean they have icq for each of their staff , real time support, email tickets, phone lines 24/7 and god only knows what else..... and you could not get any answer to your prob? cmon man !!

Magg, why are you ragging on webair when at least 2 times in this very thread you've offered the same deal for the same price? Wouldn't that be overselling your bandwidth, or did you find some magical way to offer customers $20/meg bandwidth, which you already said you couldn't do.

Ragging on a host and spamming your own shit is real classy, especially when what you're spamming is exactly what you're dogging them for. Go fist yourself.

You obviously have no knowledge of bandwidth pricing as well as incorporated equipment and provisioning costs, so I dont see you as having a soapbox to stand on.

I think you need a clue by 4.

chodadog - i suppose i should end all my statements with a </sarcasm for those with a disfunction in detecting it

and as i said, i am not ragging on webair just because i am wearing a sig advertising another hosting company does not mean i am not allowed to participate in hosting firm discussions.

This is a forum, first, advertising grounds, second. I have all the rights given to me by the forum to discuss something - notice I am not getting hissy pissy unlike some people over something which I am not even trying to degrade someone over.

I clearly stated there are diffearnt models, and was trying to explain how one host was able to offer something others cant/wont.

Grow up.

I get a solid 3 megabits for ~$16/mbit, so do a lot of people here - via Comcast , and that's a retail priced service.

If a hosting company has, say, 10 gigE's, and that company was only selling 10mbit connections, that company could probably oversell the 10gigE's about 4 times (40gigE's worth) before running close to capacity on the 10gigE's.

It's all about how many clients you have (or can get) and how much total bandwidth you have available.

That is also 3Mbps of *inbound* bandwidth, and that as well is oversold and there is already proof of it in neighborhoods which does not have the infrastructure available to support the number of users subscribed and causes service degredation.

The fact is, prices are controlled by the main carriers in the industry - and as far as pricing goes now, HE.net is probably the cheapest on a GigE at $20k, but along with that you have to deal with most of their traffic offloaded to Wiltel transit.
There are better deals available, for only a couple thousand more, but you must already have very nice commits with the providers/carriers and good personal connections.

You can say you're not ragging on them, but that doesn't mean you're not. There's no way your second reply offering hosting to Ray and Kard for that price was sarcasm. That came across as totally genuine. Sounds like backtracking to me. Did you just realise you made an offer that you couldn't follow through?

Yes, there are different business models. Your one sounds solid. Only i must say, i'm a little worried about how it changes at the whim of a GFY thread.

Whether webair can actually do that price without overselling, i don't know. I am not a host and i don't know shit about bandwidth. That's why i'm with webair. I don't have to know.

Hello,
I've added xxxxx.com to your FTP. Regarding SSH, We require
you to fax in a copy of your drivers license to 516-938-5100 with this
ticket # to be approved for SSH access.

Please let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
--------------
so what ? do you know what hackers can do with ssh access?
also this is required only for virtual accounts not dedicated.
--------------------------------
I've noticed alot of pages going to no content then dropping out of google since they had problems weeks ago. It's hit my business pretty hard. I've always loved webair but if their hosting can damage me this much in a short amount of time I'm going to be needing a new one.

I'm talking I've gone from averageing $2-300 a day off google traffic to $40/day. That's what I call fucked in the ass.

----------------------
what does it have to do with webair if you are not able to do a correct htaccess/mod _ rewrite file ?
--------------------------
When you look up a page and it shows just the URL but no title or body text for it?

-------------------------------
it means you don't know shit about html
----------------------------
sql2.webair JUST went down. ( by the same person)
-------------------------------------
might have been down for at most 3 hours , i'm on sql2 too

--------------------
is it just me or is anyone else having problems sites that are hosted with webair today?
------------------------
yep, its just you , or maybe just today
-------------------------------------------------

cant connect, anyone else?

say it aint so!!
--------------------------------
i'm fallin and i can't get up !! common man this was just when they had the server maintenance and they told everyone about it.
i didn't even get affected by it.
-----------------------------------------
or is it just my connection?

--------------------
probably your node , my sites are monitored and i havent had a downtime for ages
-----------------------
last couple days have had trouble getting anything done, either by email, live web support, or telephone call.

anyone know anything?

what gives? (i am not a small client)

-------------------------------------------------
Thats odd.. maybe because of the power problems they have been having?
,
yet i bet you are still with them
it lasted what ? 2 hours?
-----------------------------
Today we experienced a power failure within the auto transfer switch between backup generator, and ups, that effected a segment of our data center space. We are scheduling a replacement and bringing in an additional backup external generator immediately to compensate. As of now all power has been fully restored.

We apologize for the incontinence and credits will be issuesd accordingly when the transfer switch has been replaced. Additionally, we will be e-mailing our clients with any scheduled maintenance related issues. Again , all servers should be up and running, if you are still having issues please contact me and I will have a tech on your server immediately.
Again my apologies for this inconvenience.

Emergency power maintenance is ongoing. This issue is related to the prior issue that affected a segment of our datacenter earlier this afternoon.

This emergency upgrade should be completed with an hour and should prevent electrical issues in the future. Our engineering staff is on site and will attend to all servers when power is restored.

Thank you for your patience and continued support.

-------------------------
unlike other hosts they tell you what is going on , and i've seen this only once in 5 years , and didn't even get affected by it
--------------------
Ok, this is really annoying... my site is down for the 2nd time in 2 days and I can't even log in to the webair control panel to contact live help or report the problem.

What's up with webair? so far I am pretty dissapointed with Webair. This is like the 4th time my site went down this month

Mike ( CEO of Webair) wich makes it all in all mabe six pissed off people out of 8 years in buziness.

café au lait your are maybe a french fellow but you make me ashamed with you " mauvaise foix"
