Satellite Internet and Cable Internet Question

Why is it that you need a phone line to upload when you have satellite internet and on a cable internet connection you don't. I though that only coaxial lines are one-way and can only receive. If thats the case why can you upload on a cable modem. Satellite signals and Cable company signals are all one-way (receive only) how does a Cable Internet connection work then?

You can get 2-way satellite internet (in the USA, at least). But one of the reasons a dial-up return is sometimes used is to reduce latency.

Me too. In America, they have no-phoneline-required upload-and-download satellite internet access. Using regular small dishes you can mount on your wall/roof. But I am aware in some countries, while they do have satellite-download-with-dialup-return, that bi-directional is not available (yet).

coax cable is 2 way.

satelite can be 1 or 2 way depending on the dish and network.
