Doman Name

I recently bought my Domain from DirectNIC! I'm hopeing someone here can help me out!! What must I do in order for my new domain name to appear on other sites counter and not my ISP address?

Is it something to do with changing the Nameservers and stuff like that? What must I put in the 2 slots that says "Nameserver 1 & 2" At the moment it reads "ns0.directnic.com & ns1.directnic.com" and what must I put in at the 2 IP Address slots?

Please, I need help with this, I have no idea what I must do here...Thanx

You need to find a host company that you pay to host your site. Such as www.webair.com or others that will handle adult sites. Once you have contracted with them they will give you all of that info as it is different for every host provider. Most will also switch those things for you if you ask them. Just tell them you don't know how.

Not all ISPs will host adult sites for one thing. Some ISPs don't even offer hosting services. What is your ISPs URL and we'll look to see if you have to start this up with them thru an online form or something.

ISPs are dialup providers that usually host domains. Just like the one I am on right now. They host domains but won't touch adult domains. There is a difference between like webair and say mindspring or AOL (as well as hundreds of small dialup ISPs)

It's http://www.icon.co.za/ but it will redirect you to http://www.worldonline.co.za/icon_index.html

My website's url is http://www.icon.co.za/~doa1/freevideo.html

I've been with them for many years now and they've never said anything about not hosting Adult content! Thanx for all the help

I have just had a look round your providers site and it looks like the same as the UK package - they don't offer DNS service for your web space. Also the terms and conditions do state nothing offensive or obscene. I don?t think your content should be on this family orientated service.

If you can't afford to pay for hosting my advice is get yourself an account at smutserver.com and mail them your account details and new domain name, they will then setup your account to use your new domain name. You will find their name server info at the smutserver site. I also think you will find smutserver runs a little faster than your current web space. If you need help with this I am sure there will always be someone around this board who can help.

We read thru the site and it doesn't say a thing about them offering virtual hosting of outside domains. Just that you get a personal page like the link you gave us for the rare daily video page. They are purely a service provider for connecting to the net and you get the personal page as a perk like most dialups offer.

Call this number to verify it:0860 00 11 77
(local phone call from fixed line only)
1177
(toll-free from Vodacom cellphone only

And it looks like you will need to get with a real domain hoster company then. The only way you can connect your new domain name to that small free site you have would be a redirect but you'd end up paying to park the domain if you want reliable services there. That would be senseless as well since you undoubtedly are only allowed a very small free site like 10-20 megs or so.

You will need a really high amount of bandwidth if you plan on allowing downloads from a host too. (Unless you hotlink from the freesite you have) But that is considered a crime in most cases for theft of bandwidth.

Videos like you have are HUGE and the normal amounts of bandwidth with most host plans wouldn't last long. We're looking at 9 MB, 23 MB and 6MB vids you have. Whew!

How much are they charging for that little bit of BW? Thats not much when you really understand how much it can take to run a adult site.

Not that much, around R199.00 in my money, I think that would be around $27.00 in yours! and I get 200MB webspace... Do me a fav, go to http://www.starweb.co.za/ and click on the Unix advance plan, that is the hosting I'm paying for... Is it any good or not?

Looking but can you afford 50 in US dollars per month? Less if you pay a year in advance. You can get 20 gigs with that 200 megs of space. 6 for 27 dollars is too high!

Don't be impressed with the 600,000 hits at all. That would be 600,000 to text only pages. If you have pics/vids then that number is useless. If your surfers copy your content to their HD's... All of that plays in and 6 gigs is way too little to really try and run a site on if you plan to have any traffic at all. US hosters are alot cheaper. You may have to work out a way to pay them but I know some that will work with you on that. Email us if you need more info.

I will try this out for a month and see how it goes! Maybe I should like offer a free video, like I was planning on doing, but store it on Fortunecity or any other free service like that and only run my site from that server, without any big files to download... I can always host my Archive with AdultBouncer, They give you space for big files!

But I will e-mail u if this doesn't work out!

Thanxxx
