INDUSTRY OPPOSES LABELS

Mandatory labels have been fiercely opposed by the U.S. food industry, which contends such labels would raise concerns about the safety of bio-foods and scare away shoppers. Instead of labels, food makers say toll-free telephone numbers and Internet Web sites can offer enough information for curious consumers.

Labels on genetically altered foods have been adopted by Britain, Japan, South Korea, Australia and most of Europe.

What does everyone else think about this? Should we be eating this stuff before they have tested it wnough to see if we will grow third eyes and such?!

here in the uk, farmers have had their fields burned for growing Genetically Modified crops. The problem being that those crops' pollen spreads to normal crops 'infecting' them.

The pros and cons with GM food are only weighed up by the corporations who stand to make money from them.

Some of our supermarkets have stopped selling foodstuffs with GM ingredients, knowing that customers basically don't want food that has been tampered with - 'frankenstein food'.

If your food manufacturers are complaining - then there is obviously something to worry about when eating!

Mind you, as USA seem to condone burning the rainforest down to get meat for your Big Mac,
why the fuck worry at all?

Lost me Kat on the rain forest to big mac conversion. I hope it isn't recurring. lol Seriously what has that got to do with MickeyD's food? Alot of our meat bound for grinding in the US comes from Oz and Argentina.

Never even thought about the pollen and here I lived on a working farm for 12 years! I know *we* have no need for 40 pound tomatoes and such until they prove that its totally as safe as organically grown stuff. I have enough trouble parting this mop without trying to part for an eye in the back of my head.

I think the biggest cause of cancer is the shit they pump into the foods we eat.

It's perfectly legal to pump a pig full of steroids that are illegal for humans to use.

Until recently when a chicken with cancer was cut up for food the actual tumors had to be removed, about 8 months ago the FDA decided the tumor could be used too. (yummy!)

There is a large occurance of cancer in animals bred for meat, might have to do with the drugs they're pumped full of, the shit they live in or the fact that they're fed their own shit and forced to cannabalize each other.

(fermented pig shit helps fatten them up, and it's very cheap)

It just ain't natural. When people say "doesn't it bother you that a pornographer is considered a bad guy?" I tell them things like this.

GOD how I love steak! It is the most scrumptious, fantastic, delicatable edible substance that has ever graced human lips....but the more I ,the more I become a future vegetarian. That will be a very sad, sad day.
