Didnt know it was this easy to get cable internet......

I went into the cable company office yesterday to signup for cable internet. They gave me a modem and I went home, within 15 minutes was online and going. Thats awesome.

No kidding..the phone company should learn a thing about it regarding DSL..in some cases I had to wait weeks for my DSL service to be installed.

I called and ordered cable internet for our new house the other day, the entire phone call (Including menu system and a brief "All our operators are currently busy with other clients" message) took 6 minutes and 43 seconds. I was truly impressed. They even offered to come install the cable on the day of our move. Was very cool.

new system lets you enter your MAC ID online, the modem is already set up. once you plug it in it takes you to a sign up page to enter your info. Its not always that easy though, lotsa stuff can and does go wrong with self install kits like that. It is getting better though.

That is great. You are lucky as a lot of times they will need to come to your house to run the line, put in a splitter, etc etc.

I waited for over a year for cable to come to my part of Vegas. I watched as neighborhoods all around me got it, except my particular area. I felt like the kid that Santa forgot and ended up moving just to be in an area that had cable modem access.

Then my buddy who works in IT strongly advised me against a self install as it took him three days to configure it. I plugged it in and was up in two minutes.

When DSL finally became available here I had to wait a week for them to send out the modem and parts I needed.

So I get it home and can't get shit to work, I was about ready to smash it, so I finally gave in and called up tech support and found out they weren't activating my account till the following day.

After waiting a week to get the parts the fuckers had the nerve to make me wait another day before they switched my account on. Good old Bell.
