Tricking Hardcore Republicans Into Seeing Fahrenheit 9/11
I've been tricking some VERY hardcore Christian Rebublicans into seeing Fahrenheit 9/11. I'll tell you how in a minute. First I want to tell you that Christians, as we all know, are generally people who can't think for themselves. That's why they're Christians. So when they see a movie like this it has a big impact (because Michael Moore is telling them how to think: they're used to being told how to think).
Here's what I've been doing, with success: ME: "I went to see 'Fahrenheit 9/11'." CHRISTIAN: "I'd never see that piece of trash. It's just to bash Bush!" ME: "I personally HATE Michael Moore <--(that part is true, by the way) but I went to see it anyway. It's actually more about how our country makes money more important than people, more than anything else. It makes some really good points. Yes, there is a lot of propaganda in the movie, but I know you're smart enough to throw out the propaganda. It's REALLY funny too. I think it is VERY important that everyone see this movie. It made me think about things I'd never considered before. In fact, if you want to go see it, I'll buy the tickets... that's how much I want you to see it." CHRISTIAN (after seeing the movie): "Oh my God! I didn't realize all those things! I'm not voting for Bush this year. But I won't vote for Kerry either. I don't think I'll vote at all this year, actually!" This has been my experience so far. I consider it a success if I can get one less person to vote for Bush. ![]() |

A quote I found when people talk about talking about the president.
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- President Theodore Roosevelt (1918) |
