U.S. Marine held hostage in Iraq, to be behead along w/Pakistani captive

The Associated Press
Updated: 11:45 a.m. ET June 28, 2004

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Insurgents threatened to behead a U.S. Marine and a Pakistani driver they had kidnapped unless the United States releases all Iraqis in ?occupation jails,? according to a videotape aired on Arab television.

The family of Cpl. Wassef Ali Hassoun confirmed that he was the kidnapped American Marine who appeared in a videotape shown Sunday. The U.S. military said Hassoun, a Muslim of Lebanese origin, had been missing from his unit for nearly a week.

The hostage had a white blindfold covering his eyes. He wore military fatigues, and his mustache was trimmed.

The kidnappers claimed to have infiltrated a Marine outpost, lured Hassoun outside and abducted him. Al-Jazeera said the militants demanded the release of all Iraqis ?in occupation jails? or the hostage would be killed.

They identified themselves as part of ?Islamic Response,? the security wing of the ?National Islamic Resistance ? 1920 Revolution Brigades.? The name refers to the uprising against the British after World War I.

The group, which has claimed responsibility for previous anti-American attacks, first surfaced in an Aug. 12 statement claiming the United States was hiding its casualty tolls in Iraq to help President Bush?s election chances.

According to CNN reports, the Pentagon and the coalition spokesman identified the missing Marine as Cpl. Wassef Ali Hassoun with the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, but the Pentagon said it could not confirm that he was the man shown in the video.

It sounds to me that the media is trying really hard to get the people riled up in preperation for something that is about to happen that the US needs support doing.

If that makes sense.

No, because seeing a mushroom cloud over the middle east will show them that the US isn't fucking around anymore. Besides a low yeild nuke properly placed would be 100k casualties, not 10MM. I wouldn't shed a tear.

How would killing a US marine in Iraq be considered terrorism? It's called defending your country from a foreign aggressor.

Because they are faceless sick fucks who don't wear uniforms or follow the Geneva Conventions? They behead people in crappy video tapes to spread fear?

Don't even try the "foreign agressor" bullshit argument. Save that bullshit for the thousands of familes that were wrecked in the US on 9-11. Who's the "agressor" now BIATCH?

"They've awakened a sleeping giant.".

Good point genius, so why doesn't Bush do something about it instead of raping Iraq who wasn't even close to an imminant threat? IRAQ HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11. We would all love to see bush do something about, whatever happened to Bin Laden? I guess everybody forgot. Keep slurping the soap!

I can give you countless examples of when the US didn't follow Geneva conventions or UN regulations. One example is the illegal war they terrorized Serbia with and dropped bombs containing depleted uranium goes agains Helsinki accords, Geneva conventions and UN regulations.

Yeah.... cutting heads off certainly isn't considered terrorism.

People are funny. If some had it their way we'd all be bending over sticking daisies in our ass humming Greatful Dead tunes.

It doesnt take a fucking rocket scientist to figure out that 9-11 was a WAR act carried to American soil. It could have been Canada or London. But boo hoo... "The poor Iraq people have anything to do with it...." Yeah fucking right, by not overthrowing a terroist goverment it's their own fucking fault.

Y'all are lucky Theodore Roosevelt wasn't the president right now or that whole fucking region would be a glass parking lot.

Can you please cite one clear example on how Iraq has a "terrorist government" and posed an iminent threat to US interests and citizens?

This is standard ignorance.... The GODDAMN region was, and still is a threat. A terrorist government like Saddam Hussein whos sons were allowed to kill people, rape children, and whatever else they wanted FOSTERS terrorism.

Dealing with terrorism is alot like dealing with a child. It's the same mentality. "So not threaten to discipline if you do not plan to carry it out.".

If it were up to me, we'd have already delivered an explosion like the sun. On that device I would have written.
"Hate us if you want, but the next time you try to attack us in our OWN FUCKING COUNTRY, we'll annihalate you all."

whether we can blame bush or not - the reality is that the saudi government and king are not doing enough to stop this.

and who is dropping off these videos and never getting caught??

The idea is just dont give them any press!!

Thats what they want - attention - when they realize their message isnt getting out then they are going to be forced to come out in the open instead of hiding in basements cutting peoples heads off and dropping the package off later.

- find their website and shut it down!!
-dont play their tapes!!

By posing imminent threat to their OWN citizens they were contributing to destability in their whole region. THAT is a threat to the US.

Heres all the information on these sick fucks you can handle.

"If Saddam is Don Corleone, then Uday is Sonny, the reckless, violent, oversexed heir apparent. And Qusay is Michael, the younger brother who is calmer, colder and ultimately more dangerous. A cornered Uday would not hesitate to lash out with chemical and biological weapons. But Qusay is the greater risk to actually control the weapons and find a way to use them against U.S. forces or the American people."

BlingDaddy,

You are brainwashed to the extreme, I think even beyond recovery. You wouldn't know the truth if it punched you in the nose and left you with two black eyes. If that is the best example you can come up with then I have to laugh.

It's a good start that neighboring countries should start rebuilding their ties and promote a common good to each other, then work as a nation to safeguard its own citizens. In this way, every Middle east country can properly protect its borders from any intrusion. They should NOT harbor any small or big groups of terrorist cell to operate within their bounderies, just what Saudi is doing right now, else, there will be no stopping these animals from spreading chaos to every peace loving nation.

If you look real closely... just under your screen name there a little word that says "Toronto". Here's what it has to do with Canada my friend, as well as Europe and all other nations that govern without terrorism.

It affects ---------- EVERYONE who is in a free land. Terrorist seeth in hate at our freedom, and will take it if they can.

Before I answer any more of your questions please answer these for me.

1. Do you own more than 1 Greatful Dead album?

2. Do you own anything that is "tye dyed"?

3. Do you have now, or have you considered Dredlocks?

4. Do you prefer to keep your Greenpeace membership over your drivers license?

5. Do you own a dog named "Bob Marley"?

6. Do you not use paper because you can hear the trees "scream when they are cut down".

Thanks.

No Enema..... it "wasn't Iraq". It was ideals, methodologies, and regimes like the kind that Saddam used to be running that made it more possible. Why can't people figure that out? It's like saying Japanese weren't "axis" powers in WWII. It's the BIG picture.

Those fuckers would have LOVED to drop a nuke over here, but they just couldn't figure out how.
