I'm going to see it tonight
Moore has already stated in interviews, he presents publicly available facts and then adds his own opinion to them...

While I disagreed with a lot of Bowling For Columbine, I did find it entertaining and hey, it did open some lines of discussion...never a bad thing...

SlickRick 06-26-2004 04:08 PM

I wont spend the money to watch it
Infact when it gets to cable I will cancel my cable until it is no longer being shown I don't want that Fuck pinko commie Moore to have one single penny from me....:2 cents:

in regards to his position on gun ownership, I would agree

however on his position in regards to Bush & Asshat I think he is more in love with America than they are...clearly

I'll enjoy saying this while we still have most of our First Amendment rights intact....

Royaltee_Gee 06-26-2004 05:44 PM

call me a prick.. and I hate to say it, but I think bush might get assinated, or he should.... Someone is going to get sick of these politicians and put a stand, and quit letting them get richer and richer, while the average joe pays the price....... you think they give a shit about america? FUCK NO, I'm sure there are some politicians out there that are good and do care about america... but you know what they'll never become president, cause they don't have the money , friends and power.......

America is digging itself into the gound slowly but surely, and it's all about greed for money.....greed will catch up to them eventually, liek that bush fool goes to church and shit.. gimme a friggin break, does that make him sleep better at night.... that guy is an evil fuckn prick....

It is unfortunate that some of the brightest people/minds will never be President because they can't afford to run. Things aren't the way they used to be. It will be interesting to see if a "not rich" man/woman will ever be able to win a presidential election again.

Agree! It's a sad scenario when the more honorable and able - there are plenty of em with real experience of government and irrespective of any party politic shit, - are never in a postion to be elected and *actually* serve the people.

All that party political bullshit in the US is just smokescreen and an excuse to adopt "attitudes", often self-serving, that has very little to do with the well-being of the country.

Washington is riddled with the biggest load of fraudsters and lying wordsmiths ever found in one place. The only guarantee is that's it's never the best man who will win.

Same thing for the Jesus movie, I wouldn't pay $10 to be barraged by religious propaganda, or anything to do with religious crap, politics, religion, it's all just propaganda to control you, don't buy into it. :2 cents:

Gosh, you are a controlled leeming 365 days per year, and like an idiot you refuse to see the other side.

:helpme

Scary shit.

"Nope, haven't seen it yet, but I have seen his other movies, and just like all his others, he doesn't have many credible sources, just like the stuff you see on TV or "hear" from a friend, read on the internet, most people are sheep and take anything they hear or see as fact if they are TOLD it's a fact and never question it."

If anyone is actually interested in the sources of the movie's information, Moore's last book "Stupid White Men..." documents each and every source. Sources are always mainstream news articles that were generally passed over by the public. BBC. NY Times. It's meticulously documented, and that book presents much of the same material that's presented in the film. So yeah, nothing new... but sometimes it helps to see it all pulled together.

Was a great movie, I highly recommend it and agree completely with the recommendation that people try to ignore the press scuffle about this movie and withhold judgement until they see it themselves. If this movie doesn't affect you, check your pulse. There were errors in "Bowling for Columbine," but this is an entirely different kind of film... and facts are significantly more secure. You just have to be intelligent enough to separate fact from editorial content. That's generally not too hard to do.

Good info here, I'll go see it tomorrow

jokaroo 06-26-2004 11:45 PM

Just saw the documentary and it was great. Who ever claims that Moore's work is not credible because it is one sided, has got to be kidding. Obviously it is one sided, because Moore is bringing out the other side of the story, that many of us don't get to see/hear. You already get fed Bush's propaganda every bloody day, now here is a chance to see both sides and you can draw the middle line where ever you want. Also I would like to point out that the facts in the documentary are nothing new to many of us who actually follow political events and do our own research. The truth is all out there, it's just that nobody cares to look or ask questions.

Heh, I am a dyed in the wool Libertarian, I have seen the movie twice, and don't worry, had my Democrat friends pay my way in.

No way in hell would I pay to see it with my own money. :1orglaugh

Now with that said, I see places Moore could have slammed Bush further, and other places where he could have thrown the book at him, yet used the imagery, yet if he used what the incident, it wouldn't play into the third act.

The scenes of the bodies hanging from the bridge and dragged in the street were private military contractors, I have a number of close friends with PMC's in Iraq, The nice thing for Bush is when a PMC/PSC gets killed, its not chalked off as another American servicemember being killed in Iraq.

To date there have been about 45+ private military/private security contractors killed in Iraq. Contractors paid with no bid contracts to protect CPA and American Interests, it could have gotten really murky with Bush hiring mercenaries to protect security interests in that part of the world, but that would have totally blown the part of using poor Americans in the Army and National Guard.

Now I knew Hamid Karzi to be in the hotel business, I wasn't aware of his advisory for Unocal in Afghanistan. But National Security Advisory Condoleezza Rice was a director for Chevron and had a supertanker named after her. :1orglaugh

Alright, alright...

This flick is amazing. Sure it's one-sided but so is mainstream news. Look at the horseshit the mainstream news services dish out everyday.

The key thing about this movie is that it has people talking and debating and focusing on outpoints the mainstream is too chickenshit to touch.

To be harsh but real, this film shows just how asswipe stupid your fellow American can be. It makes you wonder if evolution just stopped cold somewhere. It also shows how kiss-ass and greedy people can be. They will fuck over their fellow man for a dollar.

This film also shows how racist the Republican machine is as long as your race is rich or can be used to throw off people.

The Saudi prince is a black guy giving damn near a trillion dollars in U.S. investments but then the film shows poor assed black people. I wonder how many of those black Saudi dollars go to the black people? I'll bet every one of them Saudi princes has a harem of blonde dumb white women on the side.

Look at how Bush Sr. sucks up to them. Yet he comes from a state where a brown or black guy can still be hung from a tree or a car. Bet he never took the Saudi Prince to a good ol' boy Klan meeting.

Bush had this election in the can and this film shows why. He had the Senate, the Supreme Court and the deciding election state in his back pocket. Oil cartels, foreign interests. It should be clear as a fucking bell that the entire administration should have been haulted and removed from day fucking one but it wasn't. Why? Because at that time it was LEGAL for them to do what they did. The American people are so racist and greedy they got what they deserved. Those hijackers weren't Afghanis or Iraqis they were SAUDIS but you don't see us dropping bombs on their asses.

Moore's film didn't touch on what Israel has to say about the Bush/911 debacle. Since Israel is our primary ally in the middle east you'ld think somehow somewhere their opinion would be of value. Where was it?

Moore points out as we all do all these outpoints of how the Bushes do business but what about every administration? Don't they all have dirty deals done dirt cheap?

Yeah Limbaugh and the other right wing talk show hosts bitch and moan about the 'Liberal Media' but that's the biggest crock of shit ever said outside of a 'grow a big penis' advertisement.

The media is owned lock, stock and barrell by right wing companies. Ever since there've been newspapers, radio and tv, women and minorities took a backseat until the riots of the 60s. If the media is so damned liberal why did they have to riot to get their concerns heard? Hell, there were only a handful of blacks on tv until the late 60s. So where is this 'liberal media'? It's horseshit. Rush and the rest of his limpdicked wannabees call anyone who doesn't agree with their alcoholic, dope poppin', wife should have sex in public, golf playing on native american burial ground asses.

Yet when all is said and done, BUSH WILL WIN BY A LANDSLIDE.

What? Greg B are you mad?

Nope. Just real. Here's why: Bush does what Reagan did, he feeds money to the military industrial machine and the cops and big business. That money trickles down and everyone keeps their mouth shut or their houses get foreclosed. Plain and simple. Fuck the poor, fuck the veterans and their families, fuck the small guy. The corporate thugs tell their employees that if Bush don't win, there won't be jobs. The military servicemen and women are so brainwashed because so many of them come from poverty they couldn't think outside the box if the lid was opened. We're dealing with a population of stimulus-response thralls and that's why pornmeisters make so much money.

The U.S. has been taken over plain and simple and the press is too chickenshit to fight back or they'll lose their jobs. Remember something, journalists are some of the lowest paid workers in the country. Most fast food employees make more. So what would you do? Fight the power and end up in jail from not paying your student loans or shut up and eat the next day?

One thing Moore didn't put in this film that would have shaken the world is how the Bush family had it's fortune seized during WWII for collaboration with the Nazis. Don't hear about that do ya? But they could fund the Nazis, pal around with the Saudis and call Israel their friend? If I was Israel I would be watchin' my ass cause the Nazis are back and so hard up they're hanging out with rich black muslims who are stupid enough to think they're white.

Hopefully this film with all it's plusses and minusses will get other film makers to take on the tough issues. If it makes a ton of money at the box office you can bet there'll be a tidal wave of 'fact finding' flicks. The one thing about Hollywood is the only color it really cares about is green.
