Check out this quote from one of the scientists from the story. It's about the gorilla Jabari that escaped last March at the Dallas Zoo.
This quote sounds like something from a sci fi movie:

"I think we probably have underestimated the ability of these animals," Maple said. "I'm not saying he did it, but if he did do it, it was a tremendous feat of athleticism that heretofore was not known to this species."

Since there's no way in hell a gorilla jumped across a 12 foot wide moat and over a 14 foot high wall, what this comes down to is the zoo is unwilling to admit they fucked up. Someone left a door open accidentally or let the gorilla out on purpose and either they or the zoo won't admit it.
