Overture

For those running campaigns on both adwords and overture, how does it perform? Worth the time?

I have success on adwords, and thinking of trying out overture for a change. The 10 cent per click minimum should not be a big issue, if the traffic performs similarly to adwords.

The traffic from Overture is not as qualified in my opinion. A lot of their listings come from expired domains displaying search results. For example: http://www.wiredsex.com/ is one such domain which is fed by Overture. It's still worth your time, but the ROI is nowhere close to that of Adwords.

Yeah I dont do nearly as well on Overture or the other PPC engines as I do on Google.

Lot of them are selling clicks that dont even come from searches, just a bunch of keywords on a page shown to people.

Hurts the quality I think.

I also forgot to mention, Overture is a pain to get any keywords listed/approved. But once you do get it approved, its pretty easy sailing from there.

Agreed. Their editorial process is a pain in the ass and is very inconsistent. But they are doing very well for me.

No, this domain is fed by findwhat. The owner is out of Hong Kong and owns a huge number of domains (something like 50,000). Read an article about him some time ago, his checks from FindWhat are huge.

Overture gets most of their traffic from agreements with other SEs and Portals. Yahoo, of course, but also CNN, altavista and a bunch more. That's why they push the top three spots so hard, those three go on their partners pages.

I'm still testing Overture & it's pretty good. You just gotta know what you're doing.

I personally think Google has better traffic.

From the 6 PPC engines I've tested so far overture has by far the worst traffic, and I really mean by far.
Adwords is top.

Just did a couple queries and they were all my listings from Overture. Perhaps he has a script to figure out which engines will yield the most per click and he uses those but for the terms I just searched on, all overture fed.

I haven't personally used overture with the adult market, but for other markets (online ticket sales) is has converted FAR better than adwords in my personal experience.. I actually toured their facility one time, very impressive...

Overture traffic from expired domains should be good as they don't allow direct listings. So, you pay only for the second click. In contrast to that Google allows direct listings.

Nope, Yun (UltSearch) dropped FindWhat two or three months ago now. Maybe more. They now have a partnership with Overture.

I found Overture to be too picky... I wasnt able to get me Adult DVD site published even though I coughed up over $200 which I am still waiting for a refund.

they would not publish because I included golden shower, Scat, and zoo movies...less than 10% of my overall stock.... I retail EURO-HARDCORE.

Yet there are site that have child porn, rape and worse that get online... I dont understand how they get a place with such vile stuff..

I don't know how to get listed on google? Thought Overture was my answer... I thought wrong.

THINK CAREFULLY IF YOU ARE TRYING FOR ADULT SITE!!!

Any Ideas???
