He uses common sense unlike those staunch liberals or republicans for that matter. Anyone who makes up their mind without hearing the facts is just stupid regardless and many people on both sides of the fence do that.

If we all beleived the same thing, this would be a pretty boring world.

Criticizing the gov't officials and holding them up to their jobs is something we should all do.

I do not agree with Moore, but I do think he is funny. What is funnier is the people who take everything he says/puts into his movie as gospel.

I think he makes some very legit points, aside from whether he is motivated by money at the end of the day.

I am not about to put myself in the danger zone on this board, but all I will say is that it is possible that the US is not the "great" place a lot of people think it is.

Problem is, by saying anything negative in the supposed "free thought society", typical responses include, "Move to Cuba then....etc..."

I am out.

I have traveled pretty extensively man...I could not agree with you more.

Go to other countries, third world nations, see the world in its rawest format and how US politics effects everyone, then....

But those people in other countries say one word, and all you get is, "they would not eat if it was not for the US....etc"

All that comes from a country that built a portion of its economy from slavery! But the current peoples were not a part of that, for it is history, but somehow those peoples were a part of all the past fighting that freed every damn nation in the world LOL

Democrats make no apologies for massive government spending. For the government to provide a happy, healthy, shameless, and even exciting society, for everyone, regardless of their personal means, requires a massive amount of cash from the citizens as well as all that can be borrowed. Further, to make sure that no citizen gets into trouble and is in bed each night at a reasonable hour, a huge government staff is a necessity. This, of course, requires every dime the public can spare and just a bit more.

Just for those of you are economists and are talking about when the recession started:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp...nguage=printer

your spending theory already got blown out of the water, so now I'll blow your 'no citizen gets into trouble' theory.

Democrats don't give a fuck what you do as long as you don't hurt anyone else. It's the fucking conservatives who want to tell women they can't have abortions, who want to ban Huck Finn and other 'subversive' literature, who want to make you get down on your knees and pray, who want to kill anyone who disrespects the flag, who want to curtail freedom of speech and allow the government to come search your house with no warrant and I could go on and on. I bet you don't convert to democrat though, even after you've just been shown that what you want is the exact opposite of what the conservatives actually DO when they get the chance. Why? Because anyone who can't see these things for themselves is incapable of learning any better. You're too easily propagandized and the republicans are the propaganda and disinformation experts. They rely on people like you. I bet you think John Kerry is a 'flip-flopper' right? Straight from Karl Rove's memo pad to your brain. You should be ashamed.

Also the Washington Post should NOT be confused with a credible news organization. It's owned by the Moonies and they march in lockstep with the conservatives.

What you said is so fucking true and obvious. Yet for some reason there is no way to get through to these people, they are totally brainwashed that democrats are the evil ones. Thats why I say republicans are against what America stands for, to me America's roots are based on freedom and opportunity, but they are all for taking away rights in the name of security, they are the ones that want to put pot smokers in prison, they want to limit opportunity to the common person. Fucking Bush signed a law when he was governor of Texas that made anal sex illegal, that borders more of a Saudi Arabia type society than what this country is about. Fuck them and the camel they rode in on.

I hate to break it to you Cory, does not matter who the President is, the US is still the best place to live. I know it will pain a lot of non-Americans, but is a fact. The US has tons of flaws and for awhile have been heading in the wrong direction on some issues, but there is no other nation that has every the US has.

Apparently we're the 6th best place in the world to live based on life expectancy, GDP per capita and literacy rate:

For the second year running, Norway has been named as the best place in the world to live, according to an annual report from the United Nations.

Norway was followed by Sweden, Canada, Belgium, Australia and the US - but the bottom of the chart is dominated by African countries.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/2149799.stm

but of course the author of the article hates America

dig420 06-18-2004 01:06 AM

America, the land of the free:

Countries with the highest prison population rates in the world
Rank Country Prisoners per 100,000 inhabitants
1 Russia 730
2 United States 680
3 Belarus 575
4 Kazakhstan 495
5 Bahamas 485
6 Belize 460
7 Kyrgystan 440
8 Surinam 435
9 Ukraine 430
10 Dominica 420

I'd say we're well off the track, and if we don't get our shit together soon it could get much worse.

Yeah democrats never fuck up anything, lets not forget Jimmy Carter. There are good and bad to both parties, and yes I lean conservative on many issues but not all.

Hell Clinton was definitely no killer president thats for sure, but I would take him anyday over John Kerry (if it was only going to be a democrat). The man is a backstabber and he cannot make up his mind on anything.

He loved the military before he hated it.

Job growth is still at an all time low and the top 20% got 71% of the tax savings. The average CEO is making 550x more than the average employee where in Britain they only make 14x.

The unmetered capitalism bubble has been expanding and contracting for a while, but it's bursting. Much like the pure socialism bubble burst in the soviet union.

The next depression is what it's going to take to finally get the balance between hand-outs and a free market.

I would agree. But, understand, that is my opinion and my priorities. Believe it or not, not everyone in the world wakes up daily wishing to be a US citizen.

The US does an outstanding job of pointing out the lowest common demoninator around the world, inevitably convincing people that the US is the supreme being. It is similar to telling your wife, "well, I am a good man because I do not beat you."

US citizens don't listen, they speak. They are proud to speak, without listening. They jump to conclusions. They think that by reading National Geographic and USA Today that they know the world inside out.

I am a US citizen (notice we forget the term American is offensive to many westerners). I DO support our troops, no matter whether or not I agree with the cause. I pay taxes. I do not hate my fellow man. Just because you do not agree with the system, it is not a mark on your integrity.

"It is not always the same thing to be a good man and a good citizen."
