Cannot get dsl... :(

I just found out that I will NOT be able to get DSL at the new condo i`m moving into.

It doesn't make sense, because this city is (250k) and my location is 20600 feet from the CO, meaning that probably 200k people are NOT serviced. WTF.

So anyways, lets here who you use, reccomend, and etc.

I was looking at a 6.0/768 telesoho package from covad, resold thru www.britsys.net but thats out of the question, I am now limited to CABLE, which I have never respected.

I need help with this, I cannot function without good internet, I do insane amounts of uploading and downloading.

I use cable. Cable is MUCH faster then DSL, cable is fast no matter what, DSL is fast if you're close to the comapany. If you want good internet get cable Cox or Comcast

No, I have used friends/families cable that is on overloaded networks and its like WTF at peak times.

I work no less than 16 hours a day, so i experience peak times ALL the time. I just need security that their shit is good.

The cable provider websites are so sketchy on their details anyway, are they embarrassed or dont promise anything?

Cool, so you see like 250-350 kbps downspeed.

What about your upseed? Upspeed is WAY more important to me than downspeed, I upload gigs of content at a time, several times a week.

Oh, what about having two cable connections in one house? I have a dozen computers to run on a second connection, otherwise i`ll have to take them elsewhere.

Carlito, you're so lucky that you have cable access and not dsl access, IMO.
Looking forward to your "Wow!" thread once it's in.

I sincerely hope that that happens, but i`ll be sure and bitch about every little thing that fucks up worse than my DSL has.

Reccomend anyone? Cox is unavailable, how about Comcast?

Looking now anyway, I live in Modesto.

Well I have time warner.. no idea if you can pick and choose where you're at.
Usually cable companies run their stuff as close to a "monopoly" as possible, yet avoiding the legal branding of a "monopoly"...

Cable modems are capped at 128kbps on the the upload. Unless its a biz plan. Better check the plans they offer.

Thanks, if I could get 128 kbps net upspeed i`d be stoked, my current best is around 26.5 kbps average.

Carlito,

You should be just fine with Comcast or whoever serves your area.

I have had cable at home for abour 3 years, before that dsl.

We have cable at our office also.

3 meg down, 256k up, etc. Also, you can get comcast home networking pkg to for more speed.

when I run speed tests at, dslreports.com I always get about 2.8 down and 240k or so up.

Cool, its pretty reasonable anyway, so i`ll probably order comcast and see whats up, if it dont work out its not much money in the trash.

We just switched from dsl to comcast cable.

Personally, I don't see much of a difference. Our dsl was always up.

So far, cable is working fine and we upload a lot, too.

Well here in Kingman AZ they are shit. only a population of 30k people and I think 95% have cable. Thats why I switched over to DSL. I jsut got fed up with it and DSL wasnt here when I moved here been on DSL for about a year now. Talked to a few people that have been here longer and the only option was dial up just 4 years ago..

We are just catching up to the rest of the world We are getting a Home depot in Sept 04

Just got a block buster last year LOL I hate it here. LOL

LOL, funny, I currently live in one of the fastest growing cities in the US, and am moving to its brother which is larger.

Hoping that the cable there wont be so bad.

Since I first got DSL back in the day, I have learned to hold my own and not require tech support anymore. So stressful.
