Cannot get dsl... :(
I just found out that I will NOT be able to get DSL at the new condo i`m moving into.
It doesn't make sense, because this city is (250k) and my location is 20600 feet from the CO, meaning that probably 200k people are NOT serviced. WTF. So anyways, lets here who you use, reccomend, and etc. I was looking at a 6.0/768 telesoho package from covad, resold thru www.britsys.net but thats out of the question, I am now limited to CABLE, which I have never respected. I need help with this, I cannot function without good internet, I do insane amounts of uploading and downloading. |

I use cable. Cable is MUCH faster then DSL, cable is fast no matter what, DSL is fast if you're close to the comapany. If you want good internet get cable

I work no less than 16 hours a day, so i experience peak times ALL the time. I just need security that their shit is good. The cable provider websites are so sketchy on their details anyway, are they embarrassed or dont promise anything? |

What about your upseed? Upspeed is WAY more important to me than downspeed, I upload gigs of content at a time, several times a week. |

Oh, what about having two cable connections in one house? I have a dozen computers to run on a second connection, otherwise i`ll have to take them elsewhere.

Carlito, you're so lucky that you have cable access and not dsl access, IMO.
Looking forward to your "Wow!" thread once it's in. |

the cable sucks ass here, was slower then dial up. Took me 4 hours to upload just one free site. thats the problem with cable interent its a shared system the more people on the slower it goes. They were not piping the stuff very well. Had cable in So Cal was much faster then a friend that had DSL..

Well I have time warner.. no idea if you can pick and choose where you're at.
Usually cable companies run their stuff as close to a "monopoly" as possible, yet avoiding the legal branding of a "monopoly"... |

Carlito,
You should be just fine with Comcast or whoever serves your area. I have had cable at home for abour 3 years, before that dsl. We have cable at our office also. 3 meg down, 256k up, etc. Also, you can get comcast home networking pkg to for more speed. when I run speed tests at, dslreports.com I always get about 2.8 down and 240k or so up.

Personally, I don't see much of a difference. Our dsl was always up. So far, cable is working fine and we upload a lot, too.
