Buyer Beware - Deal with Established Content Providers

I bought six picture sets this evening from a relatively new content provider that says they are in full compliance with US law.

I spent a few hours downloading... and had a chance to chit chat with the provider over ICQ. I asked for the proof of age documents, as it wasn't included in the downloads, and they sent some by email. Great.

Then I checked the documents...

One model was 16, two were 17 and all of them only had one picture ID. It was vurtually impossible for anyone to be able to determine the age of the models when they had their pictures taken.

I have requested my money back from both the provider and the credit card processing company that the provider uses.

The bad thing is... I chatted with the provider... and really liked them.

What would you do?

Paul... it's not funny... I hope you don't give me a lecture. Rest assured that I have learned my lesson.

StP: No names will be named... so long as I get a full refund... with no further problems regarding this purchase.

Not all new guys are scammers... to say "Don't do business with an unestablished company" is not right.

Let me clairify...

The sets have only one picture ID... though the provider says they are working according to US law which requires 2 picture IDs for foreign models. So, when I got one ID, that wasn't enough.

Secondly, the ID shows the birth date... and the date the ID was made. Normally, most content providers will use an ID that shows that the model has reached the age of 18.

Just because the ID was produced when the model was 17 does not tell us how old the model was when the pictures were taken.

This type ID only proves one thing...
It tells us that the model got the ID when she was 16 or 17.

Just wait. Maybe there is other ID. I have seen at least two of the models on other prominate websites.

The purpose for the warning is this...

Remember to check the ID and not just store them away for safe keeping.

This is confusing to me....
Does the ID show the birthdate?

Yes... The ID shows a birth date.

And it shows the date that the ID was issued.

In this case, the ID was issued when the model was 17.

Therefore, the ID does not prove the model was 18 and is useless.

This kind of proof is basically useless anyway. The ID with a birthdate and date the ID was created could be 18 years apart. But it does not prove that a picture set was created when the model was 18.

The only way to do that is to have a picture ID with 18 years between the birthdate and date the ID was issued... with the model holding the ID to her face in the same clothes she wore in the shoot.

That would be better.

Otherwise, a photographer can shoot content... wait a year... and then create the proof of age documents.
