You get another set of numbers or we re-up the old ones with a new expiration date, I'm not sure which

Hmmm, well as a Canadian with a U.S. bank account, I'm still
looking for that "magic bullet" that will force me to switch.

This announcement while "interesting" still only effects about 10%
of the webmasters out there.

What I'd like to see is Epassporte change that Plus system
charge to about a more realistic 50 cents. We're already paying
upto $4.00 depending on the machine that's accessing the
network. Another $2.00 for an SQL request??? We're not stupid
in about transactions in this industry.

Epassport is $2.00 , the ATM/B machine in Canada (because
it's not your home bank) is another $1.00 to $4.00 per use.

You can avoid the ATM fee's by withdrawing epassporte funds into your bank account then using you're banks atm card on their terminal correct?

I'm confident in time that will change and when that time comes then I'll start looking into using it.

To me (and I'm not up to speed with bank regulations I'll grant you that ) it's just strange that several other payment services can do right from the start what you had to move mountains for to launch just now.

That's what I was saying and I meant no offence by saying it
Well said RicardoB

Epassporte is a long way from competing with Paypal. I would bet that if we had a back door account in Paypal today it would take more money than Epassporte.

The problem at Epassporte is they don't see the problems. Firstly as yyou said it's solely US aimed. Have they altered the system of charging your card a US dollar amount so you can verify you own the card, have they given you time to get a bank statement rather than assume everyone is bright enough to access their CC account online and most importantly have they started sending out email confirmations of payment?

I asked them about emails and they said not all clients want them, some qwould be getting over 100 a day. Which I find hard to believe as ALL other processors send them and I doubt if they have many clients getting 100 orders a day.

I only have to check Epassportes site to see if the client paid, no one else makes me do this.

Good idea, bad system and worse excuses.

Don't get me wrong I love Epassporte, but OUR clients do not and that's what put's bread on my table.

Good idea about the bank transfer, but will continue to take the little money we earn via you from an ATM.

Great News Epassporte!

Nice to see you guys are THINKING about the OTHER source of revenue - C H E C K S.

Some basic FACTS about USA market:

* 89% of U.S. adults have a checking account
* 23% of households do not have a credit card
* 45% of all credit card holders are within 5% of their credit limit

Sure there is.
It is called SWIFT code transfers.
We pay our webmasters through wire transfers, all using SWIFT codes. The only problems I have ever seen is with US banks. But that is more the people at the bank that do not know they have a SWIFT code.
Else there is also IBAN transfers, they are still pretty new and mostly used in EU I think. But they are more secure than SWIFT.

Yes, there is a standard system it is called IBAN (International Bank Account Number) should work pretty good for Europe.

Whoa!! Great guys, you are truly moving ahead quickly!

It wasn't many days ago I myself asked a question regarding this

My suggestion for the international part, like "mn" & "HollyMoss" had:
Maybe You could at least add some ability to withdraw funds by international checks
or through the outside-US common systems IBAN or SWIFT..?

I would definitely find that a viable alternative to the PayPal-like
international ACH, or what it's called..

Rand & KimmyKim - You rock!!

Another problem with wire transers, is when as where I live, all the banks charge $10 for receiving US wire transfers and a whacking $30 for receiving wire transfers from abroad.

In this part of SE Kansas we have only local banks. I have no idea whether they are profiteering or passing on fees charged by their correspondent banks. But either way, it hurts.

For me, the removal of Paypal was a blow. They had the easiest to use system and offered more (and cheaper) options than anyone else. In comparison, ePassporte is a dinosaur: unless a sponsor sets up an account for you, the frustration starts when, instead of putting the basic details online, you are asked to request more info. It duly arrives, but three days later (both times I have asked for it) and including absolutely nothing which couldn't have appeared on the site.

You then have to email back to apply and to date I have done that twice without getting any response. A week or so ago - since I need to accept a few payments via a program that is in fairly wide use - I called. Had a very friendly, helpful conversation with someone. But I'm still waiting for the information he promised.

I realize that when similar complaints appear on a board KK usually pops up and offers to deal with them. That's very good, but the posts along these lines are fairly regular and that bothers me when it relates to someone who is going to be handling money.

Ok here are my answers, in no particular order, and if I miss anything, let me know.

1. We are not Paypal. We do not have the same features or detriments that Paypal has. There are some things that we do that are similar, or perhaps closer than similar, to Paypal. However, we do accept adult transactions and we don't arbitrarily freeze funds. You know how to get ahold of us, and you can always email Rand or myself with questions or problems.

2. We charge fees in accordance with what transactions cost us to perform. Due to the arrangements we have with Visa and our banks, some of these fees are more or less than others charge.

3. You cannot ACH money into a business account, they are loaded only via wire. You can ACH out of them however.

4. Crypt, please email me -- kimmy @ epassporte.com with your account information.

5. Pelican, I've got someone looking into your situation you've emailed me and expect an answer soon.

6. charly, thanks for the neverending support and criticism, without it I'd think you were dead.

7. Cash, I do not have a list, I'm sorry.

8. Other countries will be added as the demand for them grows. I have no schedule for this since it takes generally a good 6 months minimum to implement with all the different banking rules and regulations and there is research and all that good stuff involved as well. We will roll them out as fast as we can, but not until they are ready, tested and working correctly.
