Another tip: watch your profile. 1) must be over 18 and 2) no nudity unless its an ADULT profile (check your settings)

are there any other popular group creating services out there?

I ave met with Yahoo to discuss payments and we talked about the the newsgroups. I explained they were a good tool for online marketing yet they do not permit commercial gains to made from their service.

If they charged I would pay for my groups, surfers know how to use the functionality and know their way around the screen etc so it makes them dead easy convert into money spinners.

If you're looking for newsletter/yahoogroups type traffic try www.mycommunitymail.com They don't censor for porn. However, all content must be LEGAL.

Bake 06-02-2004 10:07 PM

Are you going to offer a service that dose this for a fee?

ListYourPorn 06-04-2004 02:26 PM

Ive just added a toplist for those of you who have groups :thumbsup

This thread just made me an assload of money.

All I had to do was upload some toons to my groups and voila! Once I'm done figuring out what else is going on I'll post again.

9 times out of 10 I've gotten emails from group members and surfers saying how they liked the toon I posted earlier in this thread, that lead them to my site which lead to signups.

Members are cool but FANS are better.

Fans are the future for small time program/paysite owners. You only need a handfull of fans to run a decent paysite...

Strobi, you just hit the nail right on the head.

It's what I've been saying ever since I got into this biz.

You don't need umpteen gillion people just anywhere from 500 to 1,000 loyal fans who'll pay you $10 to $20 per month minimum to make great loot in this biz. Keep your overhead low, satisfy your fans and you can roll on.

Some guys have 5,000 websites and don't make shit. Some guys have 2 or 3 and make a fortune.

It's about quality and communication. Plain and simple. That's where groups come in because it's like having an opt-in gallery and emal and newsletter all rolled into one.

I just found out you can make your own groups from your own website. Too techy for me but I'm sure one of you gurus can do this.

In the past 72 hours I have been on a big ass lucky streak. Stats are rising and overhead is lowering. I'll be debt free in a few days.

It's not like umbillion people are signing up for my groups. It's that the surfers are SEEING the group and clicking to the paysite and/or affiliates or linking TO me.

Fans. Plain and simple. Make your site 'Fan Friendly' and give them a sense that there's a real person there and they'll sign up and stay.

Just ONE promo toon did this all. It's always worked for me since day one. I'll do more.

If anybody wants to trade links for promo toons hit me up via email.

You can always send your Yahoo group traffic to one of your own sites...a paysite review site or a full-page ad...or send traffic to your galleries. That way you aren't sending traffic directly from a Yahoo Group to a sponsor.

We allow Yahoo Group Traffic.
All Yahoo Groups are Double Opt In, so there is not TOS problem.

Can youtell wegcash that I was getting over $300 per week but that kicked me off - But thats part and parcel of being a webmaster.

BTW I have wacked a toplist up now - http://www.smithslookup.com/toplist/index.php - its to complement my YGF - Yahoo Group Forum.

Another tip, Yahoo has recently been killing accounts but leaving the groups intact. This is a big problem if your group site is a NEWSLETTER site or MODERATED. Always have moderators --the more accounts the better, so they can help you out when your creator account is killed.

it may be because you place the adult group in an inapproriate category. all adult groups have to go in the adult/romance or something like that. i had a group a few years ago in the wrong cat, got deleted, had to start new one.

collegeclam 06-11-2004 04:14 PM

heres a similar tip that brings in a decent amount of traffic for me.

join. post. enjoy.

Good post. Usenet still generates traffic.

you know what, i was thinking totally different when i posted that.

what i do with the groups is much different. i used to have a group that had 5000+ members, and that was moderated. that got deleted. didnt take long to gain members since i had uploaded a nice chunk of pics myself and made pics available only to members.

but lately, ive been joining as many groups as possible, opting to recieve zero email, and posting to them all at once, maybe a few times a month.

There are also MSN groups, Lycos, and other distribution sites. Just remember to follow their TOS.

Groups traffic kicks ass. When Excite had groups, I owned 60 of them and got 60k of traffic a month from them. Those were the days! Like someone said, always have back ups!

I made the mistake of getting a little too "promotion crazy" with some older yahoo groups and they went bye-bye (along with a decent, steady stream of income)

Too bad, that must've majorly sucked.

.

Did they show any interest in making money in adult that way? I remember the Yahoo clubs always had ads for Ifriends on them.

Transfer your groups to mycommunitymail.com if you don't want your groups to be killed by Yahoo:2 cents:

yeah, i started groups for almost every pornstar I could think of the other day and got them fixed up all nice and sweet for the members....they are growing nice and fast, but nowhere near that, how are you getting members so fast? spamming the other groups?

Jdoughs 06-12-2004 09:20 PM

I joined groups that fit my niche..added a pic and posted about the new group.

But it wasnt spam..was totally relevant to the group i posted in.

Members started June 9th and ive seen 1000 people gp through and have 900 active members.

i joined like 100 fetish groups to do this..but i think ill be at 1500 by next week and probably stay near there...BUT ive gotten sales off my group allready.

What i like about it is i have 1000 fresh totally targeted traffic...emails and all.

Jace you will see that in most unmoderated groups that a post adverting another group that is relevant is not considered spam.

$5 submissions 06-14-2004 01:53 PM

Exactly. A great way to both generate and filter traffic is creating a HUB and niche-'spoke' system.

New within the last seven days:
Members: 1304

I think this is a great thing for those hard to find traffic sources. Those rare niches. Good way to find those hardcore fanatics about the most bizarre shit and find them by the thousands.

wonder what theyd do if you sold off 2k lists of fresh (one week ago double opt in) 100% targeted emails in any niche or even the groups for that matter...:1orglaugh

(edit) the last 7 days is actually only 5days..from when i started the group and did the promotions for it)
