Here's a quick traffic generation tip courtesy of http://www.webmasterlabor.com

+++ For informational use only. If you plan to use this advise, you agree to abide by all of Yahoogroups' rules and regulations. You also agree to abide by Yahoo's TOS +++

Yahoogroups allows webmasters and non-webmaster porn fans to create email distribution groups to share picture and movie files. Yahoogroups are all located within the same Yahoo infrastructure so ALL collected lists are in one central location. This is a great source for newbie traffic since members of one list may not know of the universe of porn outside their list.

How to get traffic from this source?

Yahoogroups stopped listing adult groups in their main groups directory a long time ago. However, there are many adult group directory sites and lists available on the net. One of the bigger lists can be found at http://www.bitchnporn.com

Step 1:

Create a yahoo ID.

Create a profile and put your age (You must be over 18). Don't put any adult pics unless you mark your profile as an adult profile.

Log in to www.yahoogroups.com using your ID.

Step 2:

Start a New Group

Fill in the step by step details of your group. In order to maximize your chances of getting more list members, IMG SRC some graphics to your description page.

Step 3:

Go to http://www.bitchnporn.com and join the groups with the following criterion:

Open membership
Unmoderated
Attachments permitted

Always select NO MAIL for your email delivery preferences unless you want a full mailbox daily.

Collect your posting addresses eg. YOURNAME@[email protected]

In your outlook or other mail client-- create contact listings for these posting addresses.

Group these contant mail listings into groups--MAXIMUM of 8 addresses per group

Step 4:

Go to your mail preferences and put your POP mail address as an alternate address where you can send list mail from.

Step 5:

IMG SRC your pics and paste them onto an email composed in OUTLOOK or other HTML email clients.

Open your address book and send to your mail groups.

After sending batch 1, go to your SENT folder and forward it to group 2 (remember to take out all text indicating the email is a forward)

Marketing Tips:

Don't be too obvious with your advertising. Your initial goal must be to grow your OWN yahoogroup first. So just put your GROUP'S JOIN URL on your emails to other groups. Once members of other groups find your email and click on your link, they can join YOUR group. Once they're in YOUR group, you can blast them with your messaging.

Keep in mind that attachments are too bulk. So use only HTML attachments with IMG SRCED pics or EMBED the emails with IMG SRCED pics. You can send more pics while taking up less space.

Build a Hub site system. Create a directory on your MAIN yahoogroup which enlists your members to NICHE-SPECIFIC yahoogroups you create. Alternatively, you can segment your master list of yahoo adult groups by niche and send emails targeted to them. These emails then enlist the reader to join your niche-specific group.

Don't get banned. Yahoogroups has differing levels of strictness--to prevent getting banned, send only up to 2 times a day. Don't put commercial ads on your emails. Always use a clean profile or no adult pics in your profiles. Try to be niche-specific as possible. And follow other list owners' rules.

ENJOY THE COOL TRAFFIC!

Nice quick read there Gene :thumbsup

Any sponsor who won't take YG traffic is missing out.....

I used to have a shitload of yahoo groups, egroups (before yahoo bought them out), various clubs, etc. It's a great way to builda loyal targeted traffic base.

I've started re-building my groups and pumping them back up lately.

I always advise a moderated group as it's easier to deal with spam and illegal pics (the LAST thing you want is a questionable picture hitting your group). I also suggest opening a seperate group for each sponsor and talking to them about using their content to promote the group. If they don't want the traffic, fuck them and send it to someone who does...

I'm also looking into MSN Groups, but they are really full of spam and the sheer number makes it a little harder to build.

If you want to know some other dirty little inside secrets about yahoo group promotion, I'll have an ebook for sale within the next month or so (sorry, I can't take knowledge I've built tirelessly over the years and just give it away for free ;-)))

why does yahoo let you create adult groups, then delete them?

are there any other popular group creating services out there?

because creation is automatic...
they do have a lot of specific keywords blocked too...

Cool. Thanks, Gene.
And in case this can help anyone, I took the listing from bitchnporn.com and created a searchable database. There's over 18,000 groups, so it's nearly impossible to find the one you're looking for otherwise.

I love this thread. I had avoided Yahoogroups because of the nonsense in the old days. Now that they've streamlined it I've got the best of both worlds.

Reason being I have 'fans' and 'rubberneckers'. Some fans have huge Yahoogroups and ask me to post stuff. What I did that was successful was to post 'serialized' toons. Toons that had that cliffhanger. It's gotta lead back to your paysite or 'via' ( i.e. sponsors etc. ).

Tease is the successful thing here. Use it to your advantage. I'm actually whipping up more serialized toons for my groups.

Here's one that always works:

Great advice on this thread. Hope I've contributed.

We had one of these a while back for one of our pay sites...the traffic was good and it gives you the chance to promote amongst the group and encourage them to actively recruit members. All was going well untill one day out of the blue yahoo nuked the group and all the owners accounts.

Might have to set up another one soon i think

yup, this is the most important thing...stay within their TOS

I made the mistake of getting a little too "promotion crazy" with some older yahoo groups and they went bye-bye (along with a decent, steady stream of income)

Usefull info would be where to find a handy dandy YG bot that will automate the joining, adding of links and can email the groups discreetly over a 24 hour period.

And that traffic is good!

collegeclam 06-01-2004 10:35 PM

nice tip. i began doing it 3 years ago, which made me buy a domain....the egroups served as a trial - if i can get people here, ill make a site was what i thought.

basically, the egroups is pretty decent if you do it right.

cool that you posted the link this "tip" came from, should have some other interesting traffic material. thx.

sinkiss 06-01-2004 10:42 PM

that was a really good article. added it to my favorites so i could refer back to it. thanks for the tips and the link. :thumbsup

collegeclam 06-01-2004 10:42 PM

edit - the bitchnporn link isnt as good as i thought it was. it hasmany moderated groups that prevent members from posting messages, which arent worth joining. what you want to do is be able to post messages and add your link. knock down both tasks with each group and youll get some traffic. the more places your visible, the better chances you have of being clicked.

wdsguy 06-01-2004 10:47 PM

Very good info

I prefer moderated on most of my groups so I can control the content and spamming...I'll occasionally open a non-moderated group for discussion of the niches as well as the ability to promote other groups under different names ;-)

en1 06-01-2004 11:31 PM

Well this article sparked intrest to actually sign up for a accnt. To much lurking for me. Anyways if any one is intrested i control ALOT of yahoo names with ALOT of groups signed up for them and utilites to easily mail the groups.....if you catch my drift ;)

Well yahoo will shut you down for using their groups for porn if you are lucky they will just ban you ID like they did mine, trouble is now I have 4 groups with about 30K members which have no moderater.

So porn is banned under Yahoo Groups' TOS?

I believe OBSCENITY is banned not porn. There is a LEGAL (and BIG) difference.

Dirty D 06-02-2004 02:08 AM

I disagree that 9 of 10 Sponsor programs don't allow Yahoo Group Traffic.

We allow Yahoo Group Traffic.
All Yahoo Groups are Double Opt In, so there is not TOS problem.
