Well. I have some connections with a couple of small media outlets and advertising agency. If there's anything I can do to help out with this, ICQ & e-mail in sig :)

Wow, I just visited Men.com and that has to be one of the sloppiest, most ad-filled sites ever. What a piece of shit. :2 cents:

btw, the pictures to the left is a total waste and they take the focus out of all the important stuff(personals etc).. :2 cents: |

Laugh all you want, you're bigger than me. Oh wait, no your not. I should rephrase that - your financial backer who purchased men.com is larger than me. Thus, my statements should be discredited and laughed at.

On a serious note, have you thought of selling that to Al Goldstein? He'd probably snap that up in a second. |
not sure if this has been asked before, what does 'KRL' stand for?

Theoretically speaking the idea of Multi Media based presentations with Video, QuickTime, VRML, and various interactive mediums were a flop.
The internet has gone through Multi Media based campaigns already and much to my own surprise form and function was the dominant result over "Cool" or "Interactive". People want what they are looking for in as few clicks as possible and the same rules apply as they did even 5 years ago. The biggest rule of them all was the 5 seconds rule that says basically if they dont click in 5 seconds your not gonna get a click at all. |
you mean commercials like this?
|
Just when you thought popups weren't annoying enough :thumbsup
Goddamn if this takes off I may never surf the web again :Graucho |
Video based ad's can work, depends where and how they are used really. I would suppose the trick is realising that it more of an efort to brand than generate clickthrough however.
On the other hands MGP'ers can debate this:) If anyone needs some made gimme a shot. Bored in SOHO |

There is a patent on this concept :2 cents:

For a lot of users, the text link would be necessary. I've tried imbedding auto play videos on tours before & found it crashed too many browsers.
WMV is still fucked on my Win2000 box. Right click > Save As works fine, but just hitting play errors. Flash works beautifully though & I see you have that option covered. :) |

I'd have to agree Flash is a way better option, and will a lot more compatible probably. |
KRL,
Have you considered partnering up with a video production company? You could offer a service for those who want to advertise but cannot create their own commercials, thus making available youre technology to more potential clients (as well as pulling in the production money). Just a thought :thumbsup |
