Call for Recipes

I'm putting together a huge collection of recipes I use often.

I think it would be OUTSTANDING if everyone sent as many recipes as they could (That they used themselves, not just and internet lookup recipe)

Desserts / Drinks / Snacks / Meals / Anything.

Don't forget a witty title. i.e. "Last Chance Chili", "Baghdad Cream Pie".

I would then coallate it and have a great book of recipes that I could send around to anyone interested. Sure there are a dozen books like this but why not have one of our own.

Peppermint Bark

I use this for a friend every Yuletide. She loves peppermint, and it's a quick, delicious gift.

1 large candy cane (Bob's is the brand I use, get it at Wal Mart for 50 cents...can also double as a dildo for photoshoots, but please refrain from using it for this recipe if you do that. It makes the candy taste funny.)

4 squares of either white chocolate or dark chocolate almond bark, melted in the microwave or double boiler.

Holiday sprinkles

Crush the candy cane. (My husband beats the hell out of it with a hammer.) Pour the crushed bits into the melted almond bark and stir to mix well.

On wax paper, spoon by heaping tablespoons. Sprinkle festive holiday sprinkles over it and let cool completely. Makes apprx. 24 pieces.

OMFG! I love haggis! I'll match that with another delight from the same area.

IRISH SODA BREAD

(Makes 1 large or 2 small loaves)

INGREDIENTS

- 574g/ 4 cups (1.25 lbs. plain flour sieved)
- 1/2 teaspoon bread soda
- 15 fl oz (1/2 to 3/4 pt buttermilk) or sour milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- Small drop of fresh milk
- 1 rounded teaspoon Bextartar (raising agent)
- 25g/loz. sugar

METHOD

1) Heat the pot/oven and grease with a little lard.
2) Mix all the dry ingredients in a basin and make a well in the centre.
3) Pour in nearly all the milk and egg; gather in the flour and mix to a loose dough, adding more milk if necessary.
4) With floured hands, knead lightly on a floured board or table and flatten out. Cut a cross on top.
5) Place dough in pot/oven; cover with heated lid. Place hot coals on top to give all round heat.

Alternatively bake in a greased round pyrex dish with lid, pre-heat oven (4250F, 2200C or gas 7 for 40 minutes).

To keep the bread soft, wrap in a clean damp tea towel when it is taken out of the oven.

Ok, I am giving out my SUPER-SECRET recipe. I have NEVER seen anyone who could eat more than one piece. It's very rich, very filling, and yummy. It's a diabetic's nightmare and a choclate lovers dream.. (personally, I hate chocolate, but my hubby loves it and so does the rest of the family so I make it).

It's not a simple recipe but it's a good one!

BROWNIE PIE

Home > Recipes
Campground Brownie Pie
Recipe courtesy Emeril Lagasse, 2000
Show: Emeril Live Episode: Emeril's Camp Ground

Recipe Summary
Prep Time: 1 hour Cook Time: 8 hours
Yield: 12 servings

For the Brownies:
1 teaspoon solid vegetable shortening
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup vegetable shortening, melted
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

For the Pudding:
4 cups heavy cream
6 tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup sugar
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

To Assemble:
1 cup mini marshmallows
1/2 cup chopped pecan pieces
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 cup caramel sauce
2 cups sweetened whipped cream
Shaker powdered sugar
Sprigs of fresh mint

For the Brownies: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 10-inch spring-form pan with the teaspoon of shortening. In a mixing bowl, combine all of the ingredients, except for the chocolate chips. Mix well. Fold in the chocolate chips. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread the batter evenly over the pan. Place on the middle rack of the oven and bake for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool completely.

For the Pudding: In a small bowl, combine 6 tablespoons of the cream and cornstarch together and mix to form a paste. In a 2 quart, nonstick saucepan, over medium heat, bring the cream to a simmer. Add the paste and remaining ingredients stirring constantly until the chocolate melts. Continue to cook for 8 minutes, stirring often, until creamy and thick. Remove from the heat and pour into a glass bowl. Cover with plastic wrap, pressing the wrap down on the surface of the pudding to keep a skin from forming. Let cool to room temperature. To assemble: Spread the pudding evenly over the brownie. Sprinkle the marshmallows, pecans and mini chocolate chips over the pudding. For the frosting: In a small bowl, combine the powdered sugar, cocoa powder and milk, mix well. Drizzle the chocolate frosting and caramel sauce over the top. Cover the pan with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 8 hours. Remove from the refrigerator and slice into individual servings and place on serving plates. Garnish with a dollop of whipped cream, powdered sugar and fresh mint.
