Are there any plans to offer guarantees for amounts held by Epassporte? Or will money held by epassporte always be at risk and uninsured?

Remember this is NOT a bank account. It is a prepaid card or wallet. We do however comply with the Partiot Act I and II and the FSA Rules in Europe.
Of course you do. As much as the anarchist in me might wish otherwise, there's no way you can do business without complying with pertinent law.

In the US, a lot of financial services outfits bend over backwards (to the detriments of their clients' privacy) in order to be seen as "cooperative" by law enforcement agencies. I'm always on the lookout for operations which, instead, place their clients first, and comply with legal requirements in the fashion most protective of client financial privacy.

I really do want an answer to the question: Do you notify clients of subpoenas concerning them, if the law allows you to do so? (I know that the Patriot Act sometimes prohibits such notice -- nothing you or I can do about that.)

No, no plans. The money in an ePassporte account is as safe as in any bank account outside the USA.

I am off the air after one more answer.

I am not qualified to answer your question. I am not an attorney here or outside the US. I am not avoiding the question, the answer is that I just don't know.

Thanks everyone and we will do this again soon. All the best and see you all in San Diego June 9th!

i guess what I meant is the ability to use it as a signature based card and not just an atm card

Yes, if your card was issued prior to March of this year, email [email protected] and they will tell you what you need to do, otherwise you should be fine already.

Maybe a stupid question but does the epassporte card work as any other visa electron card issued by a bank?

It works in two ways, thus the reason for both the Virtual and the Electron numbers.

Electron cards are for physical use only -- they MUST be swiped in order for the transaction to process. They cannot be keyed in, used over the phone, or used on the internet.

Virtual Visa numbers are for online use only. They cannot be keyed in, phoned in, traded for shoes or anything else ;)
