proftpd problem

i've installed proftpd on my server but after i login with a ftp client and i try to upload or create files/directories i get an 505 Permision Denied message.. what can be the problem?

you don't have permission to write to the directory or over the file. you need to either chmod or chown that bitch via ssh!

is not that because i get permission denied in the root directory too.. also, i can create directories from ssh but from ftp i get permision denied

im not sure how to fix it without having access to the server. sounds like a job for your host

Thats pretty normal.
You should never ever be able to upload in the root directory
unless you're looking for trouble.
All ftp servers deny root access by default.
