Sorry, I thought that part would be assumed.

How about that? Would that be spontaneous, thoughtful and romantic enough?

Currently single.

I just think that a real man wants to do thoughtful and romantic things for his lady from time to time. Same with a real woman for that matter, she likes to do for her man. Sadly, in so many relationships there is always one twit who starts to take that attention for granted.

I beleive that this kind of romance and thoughtfulness is a two-way street, and if it starts becoming too one-sided things usually tend to get ugly eventually. Both men and women like to feel appreciated and loved..... and rightly so.

Ahhh too much maturity and good sense for one post.. overloading circuits...

I completely agree with you. He doesn't take me for granted, I don't think. Just more of day to day life taking over in routine, maybe.

Speaking of him not liking to buy flowers..... you know, I'm not all that crazy about going to a flower shop and buying them either, but I've done it, and I'd do it again. Also, you can pick up the phone and order flowers over the phone with your credit card, takes like 5 minutes and it's done.

Sometimes doing a little thing that you don't enjoy in order to give your partner some enjoyment is just something a grownup does, at least one who truly appreciates their partner and wants to show that appreciation. It's not like buying flowers is some major imposition or personal sacrifice or anything.

Elli, you should dump the weirdo.

hahahaha!!!! Oh, I can relate...I've been there before! Some guys just don't think, unless it has to do with them! Unfortunately, it's just something you end up having to accept...because they won't change. And if you have to tell them, it loses all it's meaning!
I think the thing that meant the most to me, was when a guy picked some flowers for me, for NO special occasion, just thinking about me. It really is just the thought that counts....some guys just don't get it!!!!

Elli, he probably doesn't realize how much it would mean to you to get flowers. He probably does little things for you every once in a while that make you smile so think of that as receiving flowers.

I don't.

It doesn't have to be flowers anyway, it's the thought behind the gift that says it all. And like some others pointed out, it doesn't even have to be a gift, it can be like Smurfette posted, a nice candlelit bath and an evening of pampering etc.... the thought put into it and the attention on you is what counts the most.

I believe that when a man forgets to do these kinds of things, something is wrong if after being reminded he still has no interest in doing something for his woman.

I send my wife flowers once or twice a month. Last night I surprised her by just showing up at her work right before lunch - with a dozen roses in hand.

I agree. Whether he thinks it's important or not, obviously you do. It doesn't matter whether he understands why it's important to you, as long as he knows. When someone knows and still won't do little things to make you happy, that person doesn't care enough about you. Sorry.

Don't get me wrong I like receiving flowers. One time I ordered an used exercise tape (the firm) off of eBay. A few of days later I received the whole kit. My friends said sick and I loved it .

In my relationship it's kinda the other way around. I'm what some would call a hopeless romantic, lol. I absolutely love doing spontaneous things. But after 6 months of spontaneous gestures and not getting any in return, KINDA makes me feel a little unappreciated. I mean I'm not talking material goods, or anything involving money, just a little random note or e-mail saying they miss you or something, hehe.

Sometimes it feels like I'M the woman in the relationship

Yeah, ok.

Diamonds don't do much for me, either, since we share all our income.

I have a garden full of flowers. If you read the thread, you would realize the real issue is not about flora at all.

flowers are useless

maybe tell him to skip the flowers and get you a cool tree or venus fly trap...something that wont die right away. or a new cd...something that wont be gone in 3 days. buying flowers is like throwing your money in a pile of dirt, then throwing it out 3 days later.

Some guys are just like that. You need to educate him on what you like ! You do for him what he likes ? If You do , then its only fair he does what you love. Otherwise just tell him how you really feel

I am beginning to think there is no point having a two page thread. Nobdy reads the first page if you do. Or at least most people don't. It makes the second page rather redunant.

"I never promised you a roooose gardennnn..."
