I hope she's ok. :(

I hope she's OK. :(

Probably he'll try to find a cybercafe near the hospital or even ask to post from one of the hospital's computers.

dont know much about US health care .. but I recall someone saying the other day he went to the emergency for a broken arm ... which cost him couple of G's... Could that be? Broken arm is an emergency in my book... or are you talking about life threatening emergency......?

From what I understand... they HAVE to treat you whether you have insurance or not. By law, they cannot turn you away. But whether you have to pay for it or not is another story altogether. I believe you have to be able to prove that you don't make enough money to pay for it yourself, otherwise they will just set you up on a payment plan.

~Ray 05-21-2004 05:44 PM

chances are... if it was poisionous...she would know it within a minute or two by the burning sensation or extreme numbness.

The 2 poisionous snake bites either burn or go extremely numb.

From what I understand, snakes teeth are like Needles. There's nothing to cut or tear the skin, they're just pointed.

KidCock 05-21-2004 05:53 PM

You should atleast cut off the blood circulation around that area.....and never use cut-n-suck =) (it's only effective within the first 20 seconds of the bite).

yep, this is a given to anyone in the US even illegal immigrants.

California has written about how even if the illegal immigrant cutting your grass falls over with a heart attack and has to go to hospital, the state pays it.

thats america for you.

believe it or not they are closing hospitals here in calif over the use of the system and the abuse of it by illegals.

talking to ice on phone, they are at hospital, awaiting test results, but she is still breathing

he took the pics for insurance purposes, and posted while waiting for her to get her makeup on (actually while she was getting shoes on, you know how chicks are about their shoes)

but she seems to be doing fine, no ill effects. . . but they are waiting for test results . . . he will try to provide update when they get back

Alright I am very happy. Thank you baddog for the update!! :thumbsup

pussyluver 05-21-2004 06:09 PM

Last time I went to the ER, I had to wait almost two hours to be seen. All the ER rooms were full. If it would have been a snake bite, that might have been to long.

With the ER being free here in the states, people free load on it for everything from the common cold to what ever.

Shit, they even made a lady with chest pains wait.

Posting on GFY, may not have been dumb. Often times there is a wealth of IQ on line. Somebody might have looked at the pics and made a good guess on what it was. KRL was quick to hit the web on snakes on FL. It only took a minute or two to check with the GFY bank of knowledge.

Hope all is well by now. Waiting for the :thumbsup on return from the hospital.

I would think it would depend how the snake bit you. Maybe if it was a snake it missed it target and nicked her causing the cuts instead of puncture holes. Pic of a rattlesnakes fangs below.

I have heard if the snake has a full stomach , it can not release venom.

Any snake buffs around ?

I'm by no means an expert ... But I would guess that she would have heard a rattlesnake. They always rattle when they're excited. I've never heard of one making no sound before or after striking. But like I said, I'm not an expert.

PrivateIvy 05-21-2004 06:30 PM

OMG.... I hope you took her to the hospital !!!

I read this whole thread. Very informative, about snakes, and California hospitals. I hope Angeleyes is doing well. :)

Cheers,
Matt

Nysus 05-21-2004 06:46 PM

Guess I missed baddog's reply. Hopefully tests will come back all-OK, mind you, I don't think venom would take this long to take affect.

Cheers,
Matt

shermo 05-21-2004 07:50 PM

GonZo 05-21-2004 08:03 PM

DrewKole 05-21-2004 08:06 PM

mailman 05-21-2004 08:09 PM

OUCH! hope everything is okay!

:(

BV 05-21-2004 08:10 PM

her arm would be 10 x that size if it was a poisonous snake bite. (within 10 minutes) and turning 10 different shades of black and blue. Non poisonous snakes don't leave marks like that.

People who aren't from the South won't know what a Snipe is. And neither one of them are.

How can you not know if you got bit by a snake? When you get bit, you know!

NaughtyAlysha 05-21-2004 09:01 PM

Hope all turns out well.

smack 05-21-2004 09:04 PM

if that snake was poisonous your flesh would have melted off your arm. so don't worry about that. but what any reptile bite there is always the chance of a tetnus infection or salmonela. reptiles tend to harbor alot of bacteria in their mouths. make sure you're up to date on your shots. it might not be a bad idea to have a doctor look at it . possibly to get antibiotics etc... just to make sure it doesn't get infected.

Jamdin 05-21-2004 09:06 PM

Best of luck and I hope it was not poisonious. We came home from the store last evening and there was a big snake in the middle of the street. It was a long and thick. Everyone was thinking it was a garden snake but it looked more like a bullsnake to me.

I hear ya! If my ass ever got bit by a snake I'd die of a heart attack rather than the poison...

Ice 05-21-2004 09:39 PM

Hey everyone..... those that wished her well thanks for the concern... for the idiots in the thread...... suck my fucking ass :321GFY

She came in and was freaking out....... I took a few pics for the hospital to see and for insurance reasons...(Im new to the states and I thought it be best to be safe the sorry)

It took me a few seconds to post a thread here.... hoping I would have some info about this considering Im new to Florida, and posted while Jenn was getting ready to go to the hospital (you know women)

Two minutes after I posted we were out the door and on the way to the hospital.

At the hospital they asked her what happened but the bushes were pretty thick and she didn't know for sure it was a snake. She reached in to grab some flowers and something got her. But from the exam that they did, they confirmed that it was some kinda snake bite but quote "non-venomous" or did not get a full bite considering the wounds and gave her shit for infection and such.

She is back home here now and sleeping and Im ready for bed myself... gotta take care of my angel

From the bottom of our hearts....thanks again for all the kind words, was a trying time for us both.

Night GFY :)
