PayPal froze my eighty-two cents. =P
This is not a 'PayPal froze my account' complaint, just a humorous observation. I was aware that my PayPal use was questionable: I had a small contribution button on my site (not in the members portion and not in areas featuring nudity... there are other features on my site that are not adult) and also accepted payments for non-adult services (such as auctions and graphic design work). It was linked to my adult domain email, though, and there was adult material included on my site, so technically it could have been considered against their terms of service even though I wasn't exchanging any specifically adult services or products for payments received. Hardly any activity happens through my account, and it is fully verified with all requested information... it was fairly apparent that I wasn't trying to hide anything and not doing a lot of business (there was eighty-two cents in the account when they froze it and that's been the balance for about a month, I think). The most I've ever handled through my account was around a hundred dollars... not so much of a major player.
I didn't realize how seriously PayPal enforced their policy until I became active on this forum, and when I read some related threads I figured that even though my use might be considered allowable I should probably research alternative options (and I have been, so I wasn't unprepared for this). The part that amused me the most was that I went over a year without being sneaky or hiding anything and nothing happened, but I've been active on this board for less than a week and my eighty-two cents gets frozen. Pfft. ![]() Now I suppose I'm off to do some payment processing research. Luckily, since I don't really get paid for anything aside from memberships (which go through CCBill) I don't have to have a solution until my freelance design portfolio is up.

Nah... it's not so bad, since I knew I should be looking into something else anyway (I may start selling some definitely adult material, and I knew that PayPal wouldn't work for that for sure). This just motivates me to get off my video-game-playing arse and do it sooner.
Just a funny coincidence, I thought. =P

The way I figure it is that it's a good thing it happened tonight instead of later this week when somebody might have paid me for design work. =D

Hrm... I was giving some thought just now to where PayPal draws the line for 'adult products and services' and I wondered... if you were issued the physical PayPal debit card, and you used that at a convenience store to pay for snacks and a Playboy magazine, would that be grounds for closing your account? What if you owned the convenience store and let somebody pay for their porn magazine with their PayPal debit card... could PayPal close your PayPal account? Kind of moot wonderings, since I don't really have a good reason to sign up for PayPal again (and am unlikely to own a convenience store), but I did wonder.

Money Bookers offer a good paypal solution.
With banks in all the mojor companies they are looking like the strongest horse in the race to fill the Pay Pal market. You can receive instant payments and the rates are pretty fair ![]()

I think I may go with ePassporte since that seems to be pretty standard around here. Also, it helps if I can get a physical debit card that's linked to the account, since I'm frequently poor and like to spend any money as soon as it comes in on frivolous extras like food, medicine, art supplies, and caffeine. =P
Anyone know anything aside from ePassporte that offers a physical card? Theirs costs $35, which I don't have right now but will have soon... I suppose I could get the account going and then buy the card when I can.

HI I am quite newto this forums. I joined a few days afte Paypal "restricted access" to my account. I got some money stuck in there. Thay promise they'll send it to my bank accout but who knows when....
I think they knew which accounts were processing adult and which not and they pulled the trigger some days ago. I a few days I heard of dozens account blocked... 1 question for moneybookers users: How instant are their "Instant payments" ? I heard they request the customer to send info by fax, etc... ![]() bye.. |

If you put paypal on anything releated to an adult site, you are sure to get your account closed down
