I pay almost all my bills online. Most CC sites have pay bill now so I just click and make the payment. IDIOT me.

Today I actually took the time to check a statement and saw a charge from AOL. I don?t have an account with them so I called the 1-800 number. The rep was very nice and cancelled my account right away and told me I could use the account until the 9th of June.

I said thank you but I never opened the account so please close it today, and before calling AE is there another number to call. He gave me the number to the fraud department that was wrong. So, I called AOL new services and asked them for number, the rep said he didn?t know the number. I politely said if you can?t find the number then can I speak to your supervisor. He gave up the number.

I called and the rep was very nice. Without even going into much detail, she asked if I purchased a computer at such town at store and I said no. She asked if I ever had account with them. I said yes when I brought a Dell computer and six months came free of AOL and I used this CC account to activate the account but cancelled since I had other services and just wanted to see what was so great with AOL and that was a couple of years ago.

She stated it was fraud and my account would be refunded $48.?? within 10 days. I said thank you. I called AE to report the incident and request new CC numbers and the rep said it looks like an error and not to be concerned in a nice way.

So, if you read through my boring post just be careful who you give your CC information to and your expiration date. I really doubt that if someone has my business AE account number would only sign up for AOL and would not buy a lot of goodies.

i save every receipt for everything I buy, check every cc transaction i make, verify everything on every statement i get, both cc's and bank accounts.

there isn't a cent that slips through.
