Green Tea Drinkers

http://www.planet-tea.com/preparation.html

I didn't realize that pouring boiling water over the green tea would cook it!

"(Boiling water usually takes between 30 and 60 seconds to cool to this temperature.) Never use boiling water to prepare your white or green tea. Water at this temperature will "cook" the leaves and destroy the tea and its flavor, creating a bitter tasting tea. "

That would explain why I thought it was bitter. Tried this tonight and sure enough, the tea was much sweeter and not bitter.

w00t!

I've never liked KRL's cinnamuck tea, but I think this green tea is actually all right when brewed properly. It's not anywhere near as bitter.

Green tea is supposed to have very good health benefits, especially for those who are attempting to lose weight. Not only is it a natural diuretic, (though most teas are), it also naturally boosts your metabolism, (supposedly. There have been studies on it, and I'm too damn lazy right now to look them up).

It's actually not bad at all once you learn to make it. Wish I had read that article sooner!

one of the good reasons for boiling water & steaping your tea in it is a 'good' thing is that sometimes tea, during it's storage and shipment, is a breeding ground for fungus so the boiling water helps kill those fungi, which if becomes an inhabitant of your body becomes a whole new health issue to deal with....

however, if you can trust the storage and shipment of your tea supplier, a temperature less than boiling is much nicer on the leaves...

the closer you can get to ingesting mainly living food or close to it....is good....

Gree tea has a plethora (I love that word) of benefits, including:

- It can surpress the growth of various types of cancer

- It can both reduce cholesterol levels and improve the ratio of good (HDL) vs bad (LDL) cholesterol

- It can inhibit the development of abnormal blood clots, helping to reduce the likelihood of thrombosis complications (heart attack, stroke, etc)

Along with all the other benefits of antioxidizing action like reduced aging effects, it's a decent antibacterial agent that can do a serious number on plaque and intestinal bugs. It's anti-inflamatory effects are great for people with arthritis or other inflamation disorders... or for women at certain phases of the moon.

And on top of it all, it may boost your basal metabolism and help you burn off a few extra pounds while giving you a gentle caffeine hit that's basically calorie-free... and the only known side-effects are those from ingesting too much caffeine.

This spot is a place where you can get started finding out about the benefits of green tea.

If you put water in the microve and set it for about 2 mins it should be just right and not quite at boiling.

You might have to adjust this time depending on the power of your microwave.
