Top 10 Placement on 8 out of 10 Top Search Engines

I was contacted by a company that offered me that deal for $3000. Is it worth it or is it a scam?

The pitch sounded good and for $3000 they gauranteed top placement on 8 out of 10 search engines including Google, Yahoo, Excite, and Lycos to name a few.

This sounds too good for only $3000 since the return would obviously surpass that amount in no time.

Any thoughts?

Guaranteeing top rankings is always a red flag. Guaranteeing on 8 out of 10 is more like a roadblock. My guess, is that all this company is doing is going to use pay per click search engines to get you those top rankings. Overture, Findwhat, Adwords and Lycos will be enough PPC engines to cover the majority of all the big search engines. By the sound of this pitch, they'll just pay 10-15c per click on low volume search keywords and "guarantee" you the top rankings. Either way, this is way too fishy for me. Ask for references and list of current keywords they have top listings for.

According to them, they research your industry and find out what keywords are utilized the most to find sites in your industry. Then they let you choose 12 keywords that they optimize for you. They have a pretty impressive client list and I was almost sold on the idea but I'm a skeptical person by nature.

I still believe they're going the PPC angle like I explained. Check out the keywords they claim to have top rankings for, don't buy just because they have fortune 500 companies in their client list. I could list off that ebay is a client and simply use their affiliate program through CommissionJunction. A client list means nothing in the SEO world with affiliate programs everywhere. Ask for actual results. Ask them to show you a keyword they're currently doing for a client and see where it ranks on the 10 engines they claimed. I'm willing to bet its a very uncompetitive keyword or they're using a PPC engine and using that as their "results".

I got the same call. It is not PPC but they do server redirects so only use domains that you can afford to lose. If you go for words that will pay you back the 3k expect your competitors to turn you in.

just got that same phone call from traffic-power. For 3000$, it's a heck of a price. I think, that if they want to come into the adult business, they have to be more open and truthfull. I ask them if they had any other tgps (I was contacted about Raven TGP, which is already number one on that term on google)...but wouldn't tell me in the name of fair competition . At first she talk about a million hits, then 10 000. Garanteed listing then not that garanteed. 3000$ then a payment plans system...you see a trend here ? One thing is simple tho: You go to their site and you don't see any description of their prices, and what they specifically offer for that price, and how you can pay. For me it's hahahahahan there...you can't put your prices and offers in a specific manner on your website, that means you are not up to par with your competitors for the price you are asking or services.

It might have been a very legitimate business but you have to be more professionnal in the way you expose yourself when you ask such a price. They have a top 10 list of business, that i have seen, but sorry, i was not impress...

Google themselves will tell you NOONE can give you a placement on their search engine. They say 8 out of 10? One will not be google, so that leaves 9. If they pick un challanged keywords and link you up everywhere you might make it, but how's that a guarantee?

I'm doing a test campaign right now with them, so far so good. I've got a few top ten listings but nothing really great yet. They're located in Las Vegas and are a really large company with plenty of proprietary software and such.

Read the terms carefully because they only guarantee a few top ten listings.

PS:
There are a lot of good SE specialists here, but this company has 100 times the resources of all of them combined.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Yeah they aren't the most professional business out there. I think they're undergoing changes or something.

They had a salesperson call me without even looking to see if I was already using them, lol.

I said to the guy: "Is this a sales call?"

He said yes and I told him to do his homework next time.

Proprietary software means nothing more than a simple script was written to automate some of their work. I got tons of "proprietary software"

Seriously though, let me know how you do with them. Although the image they gave from others in this thread doesn't sound that professional, I'd be interested to see if their traffic can speak better for them.

Yeah, I'm not doing SEO for many people anymore. Made more sense to work closely with 3-5 companies and use the volume I could get to negotiate better payouts and more flexible terms.

These same fuckers have been going down my client list (mainstream) contacting people, telling them that we didn't know what we were doing by saying we couldn't guarantee top 10.

They also gave the same pitch saying they are only one of 3 companies with this million dollar proprietary secret software that enables them to get the top 10 spots.

I'd like to get ahold of these fuckers!

I mine as well do it myself at this point. It's just so hard to start something that I know is going to take a massive amount of work.

Anyway here's the stats:

5 listings
2 in google both in top ten
2 in netscape one in top ten(I didn't even know there still was a netscape)
1 in cnet

With no link popularity.

Their user interface is cool at least. Here's a small example:

Yahoo doesn't even guarantee submission much less top 10 position.
Anyone telling you top 10 then put their domain name into Google
and see where it falls.

From what I understand, traffic-power.com is banned from Google because of spamming. If you search their site, it won't list on Google at all. That says a lot about a company that boasts they can get you on the top 10 in no time.

I got a recent call from another company that is publically traded and offered the same deal for $1500 a month. They sounded a lot more legit.

Just my - Buyer Beware and be sure to research before spending that kind of loot!

I hate to say this, but most SEO's who know what they're doing work for themselves sending to affiliate programs so I have to say it is hard finding someone to do SEO work these days. There are some, but not that many.

In regards to the stats, what they're showing you just looks like usage logs from webalizer (ex: http://www.mrunix.net/webalizer/sample/). Nothing really fancy about it, its just a nicer template than the generic ones Webalizer provides.

As for the results they are getting for you, I'm sorry to say its all the same listings. Netscape's listings are provided by Google. So a #1 ranking on Google means number one on Netscape automatically. Same for C|Net, provided by Google. So in reality, they've got you 2 rankings, not 5.

Put "traffic power" and "traffic.power" into Google and you can see they
don't even have control over those key words/phrases. Further down you

They are obviously bait-fishing for domain owners and not webmasters or

Send them a reply email with the Google link to "traffic power" and tell them
if they can get on page 1 you'll give them (little finger in mouth) ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

Yeah, I know they all use google's listings.

You're right about SEO's too. That's how most the people on this board make their livings I would guess.

I just got off the phone with them and they said another 4 weeks and their pages should be indexed. I'll let everyone know how it goes, but I think it would be better to do it on your own anyway. That way you keep all your domains, scripts etc. When/ if I stop using these guys I'll have nothing to show for it.

The funniest part of this whole ordeal so far was when THEY gave ME the list of keywords they were going to use, lol.

I called them up and told them they were full of shit, and we changed some of the keywords.

I also remember in the very beggining saying to them that there was no way they could get a first page listing for a term like :sex toys and they agreed with me.

Well Raven tgp got around 10-15 hits days with google+netscape and sometimes yahoo. So, your stats Dave are very enlighting... The fact that they aren't even listed on google is a thumbs down, all way down...

The sad part is that she have two of my e-mails and my phone number, and i will ask her to delete them. Gee...i just can't beleive the price tag.

they contacted me too, although they quoted me $2000...my only concern is someone who is good at SEO is gonna make lots of dough, that they offer a service, it's either very hahahahahaha-cutter formula style or limited in scope

I actually searched them out before they started doing those sales calls. They prefer to do massive campaigns obviously, but I'll be able to tell whether or not they are any good with my small test campaign of 20 keywords.

The $2000 was a deposit and you had the pay the remaining $1000 in monthly installments. It was a year contract. When I was talking to the lady on the phone it was more like I was talking to a used car salesman rather than a professional in the SEO industry.

I'd rather just spend a little elbow grease and do the research myself. It's amazing what can be learned from boards and other tutorial sites.

What he said . It's just 3k$ but ... it's still 3k$

Funny, just talked to a guy from traffic-power the otehr day. The concept they offer is obviously junk, but here's my favorite part.

Initial price - $3600 for 1 year service
dropped to $3000
dropped to $2400
dropped to $1200 for half year
dropped to $1000 for half year
offered double the work for $1000 for 6 month contract
dropped price to $600 as final offer

hmmmmm $3600 down to $600, plus double the work.... you make youre decisions from there.
On the board ... weird

One thing the guy said was that search engines were REQUIRED by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to redo their ranking algorithms every 3-4 months in order to better "distribute" the wealth produced by top rankings.

I asked him to repeat the statement several times because I could believe what I had heard. He insisted it was true, but as I continued to challenge him on it, he hung up the phone...

I could be wrong, but I doubt it. Was there ANY validity to his remarks about the FTC?
ROFL ... I never heard a such thing . How would the FTC know actually when the algorythm is changed ? Not like it's an open code.

Send them a reply email with the Google link to "traffic power" and tell them
if they can get on page 1 you'll give them (little finger in mouth) ONE MILLION DOLLARS!
That's why I got my phone # changed 3 times in past year . Fuck phone spamming
