Canada's criminal record pardon program
I was discussing this with some colleges and it's quite funny.
Canada offers it's federal convicted offenders pardons. They are at present operating a new budget which they are spending on radio/television/newspaper ads. Basically they are putting the word out to convicted Canadian federal criminals that they can apply for pardons and have their criminal records "erase and eradicated" from the "system". One of the promotions is them pointing out that you can't travel to other countries with a Canadian criminal record but if you get pardoned you can then be free to travel the world at your leisure. What a fucking joke! I can only speak for the United States on this one but the US does NOT legally recognize any Canadian pardon program nor honor it. Once your name is in the Interpol system your there for ever. A pardon from the Canadian federal government does not magically erase your name from Interpol. The real reason Canada is asking criminals to apply is because a few years back Canada updated their computer system to keep up-2-speed with the US and a few other nations who use Interpol. The old Canadian computer systems were so antiquated many of the criminal records are just plain not there or they can not be surfaced easily. Canada wants criminals to "come forward" with names and other personal info so they can take that information and update to Interpol. They have no way to bring up old criminals unless the criminals come forward and tell them "Yes I was charged years ago and this is who I am". Sure, if approved, Canada will send you a pretty hahahahahahahaha that mumbles on about being pardoned but just try and cross an American border and produce that hahahahahahahaha...The US will turn your criminal ass back home pronto. The US will not honor any cheap ass Canadian pardon hahahahahahahaha. If your an old Canadian criminal then do yourself a favor and stay below the radar. If you want to see if your in the Interpol computer system then get your criminal ass in a car and do a 49th parallel border cross to test if they kick your ass back to Canada. If they take your picture ID and type it in and then return it to you and say "Enjoy your visit" then your a free bird.
