Google Image Ads (BETA)

We're excited to introduce image ads, an additional ad format that combines the appeal of pictures with proven AdWords targeting technology. Now you can show your product images, company branding or other creative elements on relevant content sites throughout the Google Network.

Unlike traditional online graphical ads, image ads are consistently matched to a page's content. By showing image ads, you're not just placing your brand and message in front of a broad audience?you're reaching relevant new prospects already inclined to be interested in your products or services.

Image ads are priced and targeted just like text ads. You can even manage them within your existing Ad Groups. To get started, all you need to do is make sure your campaign is set to show ads on content sites, then load your images.

Welcome to the death of Google as the populist search engine. Sacrificing your biggest core value (since they've already been caught in terms of relevance) is the easiest way to alienate your audience. Might see a short term revenue spike, but they're gonna kill their overall share of market.

Buy YHOO and MSFT now, kids...

I got the email yesterday too, they didn't mention if these ads would be carried on Google itself or just Adsense partners. I got the impression this banner program would only be distributed through adsense partners. Would seem to make more sense since adwords can get multiple clicks as opposed to one banner.

Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60. Let me repeat... A 120 x 60 button and no more that 3 lines of DEFAULT SIZE AND COLOR text.
