AMD OPTERON 64BIT VS Xeon 3.6 64bit

Okay so here it is, 3 to 2 AMD Opteron 250 duel processor system beats the new xeon 3.6 64 bit systems.

There were five tests:
SQL Stress Tool Benchmark (Reads)
Xeon 3.6GHz - 105295*
Opteron 250 - 103198
SQL Stress Tool Benchmark (Writes)
Xeon 3.6GHz - 42102*
Opteron 250 - 41266
Vendor Heavy Workload Test (Reads)
Opteron 250 - 252942*
Xeon 3.6GHz - 242817
Vendor Heavy Workload Test (Writes)
Opteron 250 - 252836*
Xeon 3.6GHz - 242810
Vendor Heavy Workload Stored Procedures
Opteron 250 - 3161*
Xeon 3.6GHz - 3035

Intel is getting close but has yet to overcome the fact that AMD is ahead of the game. So all you host out there, I suggest you stop using those Intel Xeon processors and go for the opterons, cheaper, faster, and much more stable.

I used to be an intel lover but now I must say my new duel opteron system smokes. So you test and make the choice, Im telling you, Opterons are the future.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0 ES Now Supports AMD64
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0 includes three versions:

WS for workstations
AS for mission critical Enterprise servers
ES for small to mid-range servers
Initial releases of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0 ES only offered x86 (32-bit support). However, responding to customer requests, Red Hat has now expanded ES to include 64-bit support for AMD64 processors.
