Dmoz listed sites?

Shock horror a business thread.

Anyway time for the question at hand.
Do you believe that a dmoz listing makes a domain more valuable?
If so why, if not why.

Just wondering after I saw a few people state they had a dmoz listing everyone was dying to buy it.

Dmoz doesn't give more than a couple hits a month, but by having a Dmoz listing, you get listed in over 300 search engines. Google gives you a higher PR rank, etc. Well worth it to get a dmoz listing. www.dmoz.org/Adult/ Pick the category that best fits your site, then add listing.

Another benefit of being listed in DMOZ is that you're listed in the google directory as well.

I have not been to DMOZ in a while, have they dumped their adult websites? I did a search on some terms my sites would be listed under and it came back saying it found nothing. These are not way off terms one was "Free Adult Links"! I remember getting alot of results a few months back.

Having your site listed in the ODP definitely makes it more valuable than a site that's been on the editor's waiting list for years. Like someone already answered, the ODP doesn't deliver much or any traffic on it's own, it's the search engines it's associated with that are key. Google ultimately considers your site a large step higher in regards to relevancy and PageRank when you are listed at DMOZ. You would have a much better chance at hitting top spots than sites that aren't listed there. Not saying you will for sure, but you have a much better chance at being in the good graces of Google for it.

Very helpful answers, I just got accepted as a dmoz editor, my catagory was last updated in Febuary... 2002 -_-

Horny Dude, the reason you wouldn't of found anything under "Free Adult Links" is probably because a title like that is directly targetted towards a specific set of keywords and is against dmoz policy and was either hyped down, or your url would of been put in place of the title.

Anyway thanks for clearing that up, back to reviewing
