Having your site listed in the ODP definitely makes it more valuable than a site that's been on the editor's waiting list for years. Like someone already answered, the ODP doesn't deliver much or any traffic on it's own, it's the search engines it's associated with that are key. Google ultimately considers your site a large step higher in regards to relevancy and PageRank when you are listed at DMOZ. You would have a much better chance at hitting top spots than sites that aren't listed there. Not saying you will for sure, but you have a much better chance at being in the good graces of Google for it.
