I built this one I'm using now.
It's a p4 2.8ghz with 2gigs of ram and plenty of hd space. I think it cost me about 2k

I built my current system:
P4 2.6Ghz with HT 1 GB of Dual Channel Consair Extreme TwinX LanParty Motherboard with Gigabit lan 7 Chasis fan's & 1 CPU fan 3 80 Gig HD's, & 3 60 GB HD's, upgradding to 3 250 GB SATA drives. Nvidia GeForce FX 5900 with 128 megs of ram it so far has cost me about $900-$1000. jDoG

Get this book by Scott Mueller. Upgrading And Repairing PC's. Its fantastic and covers every single aspect of PC's. Its a big book with 1,574 pages, but you'll find info you never knew in there about all the components that go into making PC's work from A to Z.
