Keeping your money on your PayPal account...Good idea?

I usually move my money to my bank account as soon as I reach $2k on my PayPal account.

So I wonder if its a good idea to keep bigger amount of money on your PayPal account for a long time? Like $20.000+

Anybody who have any comets?
Feel free to share your $$$ numbers "if you want"

I would let mine get to the $1500-2000 range like you mentioned and I was just about to transfer when guess what? They closed my account for having a Pay Pal logo on a mature site.

#1 I don't have a mature site, I have a hosting site, no nudity of course. Naked Hosting, Naked Juice, Naked Furniture--same thing its a name is all. We "host" adult sites just like all other larger more known hosting companies like Interland, Hostway, etc. We don't have any adult sites of our own that use Pay Pal.

#2 I dont even have the logo on Naked Hosting.

So, NO don't leave your money in there

Very bad idea, they like to "investigate" on "suspicious" accounts with lots of money in them and take it as their second income

Very bad idea to keep more than $100 in there, especially if you deal in the adult biz or if you have ever exchange funds with someone or an entity that had their account closed

Don't risk it. Paypal will freeze your account and you will not get your money back..

I keep less than a hundred and thats just for buying stuff on Ebay.

A well known poster here just got a big big amount frozen a few days ago.

Never ever have over $1k under any circumstances and make it a lot less if it is in any way connected to adult including being on the receiving end of sponsor payouts.

Not necessarily (on the latter). They can and will lock your account for any reason, or no reason at all.

Hell no! Withdraw it ASAP. When they caught me the first time, I had $1 in there.

My withdrawal cleared earlier that same day. Phew.

being a host we hear lot's of horror stories about Paypal.

mainly it's only adult affiliated people that get effected but they will with no questions asked lock up your account if in anyway is connected to a adult site.

I've seen it sucka its' real as a banana peel

We take PayPal for programming services. When our account got frozen, I figured maybe one of our clients' email addies had set off a red flag, or something.

Nope - it was a long-neglected, MAINSTREAM (well, maybe a little off-center, but certainly not "adult") site that accepted PayPal donations, that also happened to have a few banners in rotation advertising a vibrator for sale through a LinkShare sponsor.

If you've ever dealt with LinkShare, you know they're at least as disapproving of "adult" oriented sites as PayPal has become. Anyway, since I had no interest in allowing PayPal to dictate the content of my advertising, I pulled the donation link. (No biggie considering I hadn't made a single dime in donations from the site.) After a week of dealing with their "customer assistance" robots, I found the email address of an E-Bay/PayPal liason and pled my case to him. The next day the account was reinstated. So there are at least a couple of sane people in the mix.

But I sure don't carry a balance there.
