Keeping your money on your PayPal account...Good idea?

I usually move my money to my bank account as soon as I reach $2k on my PayPal account.

So I wonder if its a good idea to keep bigger amount of money on your PayPal account for a long time? Like $20.000+

Anybody who have any comets?
Feel free to share your $$$ numbers "if you want"

69pornlinks 04-29-2004 05:41 PM

MrJackMeHoff 04-29-2004 05:41 PM

<IMX> 04-29-2004 05:42 PM

detoxed 04-29-2004 05:43 PM

Yes, put as much money into paypal accounts as possible. Its safe
:1orglaugh

Axzar 04-29-2004 05:45 PM

only as much as you can afford to lose.

gin 04-29-2004 05:45 PM

no it is not a good idea.. they suspended my paypal for no reason at all.. called like 10 times emailed them like 50 times. i sat there and emailed them non stop 1 after another like 50 times called them. and they say "nope we didn't get any emails" :BangBang:

Spunky 04-29-2004 05:46 PM

Not a good idea by the sounds of them locking accounts anytime they want

bignasty 04-29-2004 05:47 PM

i never keep any money in there. when ever i need to send money I just do a transfer from my credit card.

mrgica 04-29-2004 05:50 PM

Well I think I got my answers now...thanks

X37375787 04-29-2004 05:50 PM

I never keep more than $150 in my paypal account.

kacy 04-29-2004 05:51 PM

I would let mine get to the $1500-2000 range like you mentioned and I was just about to transfer when guess what? They closed my account for having a Pay Pal logo on a mature site.

#1 I don't have a mature site, I have a hosting site, no nudity of course. Naked Hosting, Naked Juice, Naked Furniture--same thing its a name is all. We "host" adult sites just like all other larger more known hosting companies like Interland, Hostway, etc. We don't have any adult sites of our own that use Pay Pal.

#2 I dont even have the logo on Naked Hosting.

So, NO don't leave your money in there :)

johndoebob 04-29-2004 05:57 PM

Very bad idea, they like to "investigate" on "suspicious" accounts with lots of money in them and take it as their second income :winkwink:

JFK 04-29-2004 06:21 PM

I usually move it out of there asap, better to be safe then sorry!:2 cents:

KRL 04-29-2004 06:25 PM

Repeat after me. This formula works for many things in life including paypal.

In > Out

In > Out

In > Out

dav555add 04-29-2004 06:25 PM

Very bad idea to keep more than $100 in there, especially if you deal in the adult biz or if you have ever exchange funds with someone or an entity that had their account closed :2 cents:

Reak 04-29-2004 06:26 PM

500 to 1000 but not more

Don't risk it. Paypal will freeze your account and you will not get your money back..

I keep less than a hundred and thats just for buying stuff on Ebay.

KaLi 04-29-2004 10:55 PM

I have about $3-400 in mine =X

and why - risks - what horror stories?

Shoplifter 04-29-2004 11:10 PM

A well known poster here just got a big big amount frozen a few days ago.

Never ever have over $1k under any circumstances and make it a lot less if it is in any way connected to adult including being on the receiving end of sponsor payouts.

Not necessarily (on the latter). They can and will lock your account for any reason, or no reason at all.

woj 04-30-2004 12:49 AM

I rarely keep any money in the paypal account, there really is no need, and given the risks it's not worth it...

VicMartin 04-30-2004 01:01 AM

Hell no! Withdraw it ASAP. When they caught me the first time, I had $1 in there. :)

My withdrawal cleared earlier that same day. Phew. :)

We take PayPal for programming services. When our account got frozen, I figured maybe one of our clients' email addies had set off a red flag, or something.

Nope - it was a long-neglected, MAINSTREAM (well, maybe a little off-center, but certainly not "adult") site that accepted PayPal donations, that also happened to have a few banners in rotation advertising a vibrator for sale through a LinkShare sponsor.

If you've ever dealt with LinkShare, you know they're at least as disapproving of "adult" oriented sites as PayPal has become. Anyway, since I had no interest in allowing PayPal to dictate the content of my advertising, I pulled the donation link. (No biggie considering I hadn't made a single dime in donations from the site.) After a week of dealing with their "customer assistance" robots, I found the email address of an E-Bay/PayPal liason and pled my case to him. The next day the account was reinstated. So there are at least a couple of sane people in the mix.

But I sure don't carry a balance there.
