Virus Help

This morning it seems half of our computers go hit with a virus. We lost no data and I was able to kill it before it did any damage.

We are running two kinds of anti virus protection, updated Yesterday, and it wasn't caught. I noticed my comptuer was running slow and started looking around. I quickly saw my main drive was full with exe files with odd names - thousands of them.

Anyone know what this is?

Loads of viruses do that to spread themselves, a Norton full scan and an Ad-Aware scan should get rid of it

You can do some free scans with these sites

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/hous...start_corp.asp

http://www.sarc.com

go to the "check for security risks"

hopefully that will help you out my friend

Looks like I got hit with the same thing. I'm also currently unable to send or receive any email. My Norton AntiVirus autoprotect and the email checking were both disabled. I already ran Adaware which I don't think found anything and I'm running a full scan with Norton Antivirus now. (It has found 1 so far)

I have the same thing with not being able to connect to the anti-virus sites. Also I had to reboot a couple times when I tried to enable AutoProtect. It just froze.

Scan should be finished pretty soon, I'll let you know if it fixed it.

If you cant get to norton, mcafee, etc, check your hosts file...

then run adaware, spybot search & destroy, and "hijack this"

get F-Prot, and reboot your computer into safe mode (hit F8 when the hahahahahahas screen comes up) then run the scanner.

Well the only virus found on my machine was this one:

http://securityresponse.symantec.com...yteverify.html

But it's still not fixed.

Soul Rebel - we can't get to those virus sites unfortunately...I tried with Netscape too, blocked.

Looking up my hosts file now...
