junior high and high school?

would someone please explain me what's the difference between junior high and high school? I'm translating a resume right now.

Here in Mexico, we have "primaria" - 6 years (elementary school), "secundaria - 3 years (I guess this one is junior high) and then "preparatoria" - 3 years (I guess this one is high school), after this we have University, etc.

Am I right?

Thanks a lot

That's correct. Jr. High usually consists of 7th and 8th grade (sometime 9th grade also), while High School is 9th - 12th grades.

Depends where you are. Where I went to school, K-6 was elementary, 7-9 was junior high, and 10-12 was senior high. Where we live now, K-6 is elementary and 7-12 is just called high school.

I think JUNIOR HIGH means 3rd year high school, while HIGH SCHOOL consists of all 4 year levels.

Of course it doesn't say the skills learned, it is just the info where he studied.
