Content Shooters - Whats Your Camera Of Choice?

Whats the camera you use most in your arsenal and why?

Of course there are *other* factors into play, but whats the all around best "general use" camera for photographing girls?

For stills, I love the Digital Rebel...it does anything I've ever needed it to capture.

Can you post an example of a girl taken with it?

Likewise any photographer care to share an example of a shot taken with your camera of choice would be great as well.

thanks.

doing some research, figured here would be a great place to ask about cameras.

We use the Nikon D-1 about 1/2 of the time, and the Olympus 5050 the rest. I love my 5050 since it's such a no-brainer and takes awesome pics in low light.

I have a Marine Biology buddy who scubas and I believe he has the 5050 with the watercase, is that the model you have?

He has taken pictures of beez reproducing or some kind of insects and the pics were amazing.

He also hangs out with the local snowboarders up north and uses it for snow fun pics, he has some awesome shots with that cam, if its the same. Olympus 5050 right?

Will probably buy the Olympus 8080 widezoom soon, 8 megapixels

Hey Mack
We use the Canon EOS Rebel, 6.3 megapixel with a 550 EX Canon Flash
We also use the new 8 Megapixel Sony which is pretty good as well, Both cost around $1,000
The attached Image was shot with the Canon 6.3 Megapixel.

How do these two compare?

I have seen the 5050 in action, someone earlier brought up the e series, how does it compare in your opinion?

You can't go wrong with a Canon Digital SLR Camera:
http://www.canoneos.com/
EOS-1, EOS-1D, EOS-10D, Rebel

For Nikon, check out the:
D70, D2H, D100, D1H, D1X, D1

It all depends on how much you want to spend, anything else (in my opinion) is a waste of money...

That's the one. Really good value for the price, and no need to lug a 10 lb camera around with you everywhere

Nice, thanks Emma, I appreciate your comments since I have seen lots of your photography over the years, again thanks for replying.

That comparison shot is great, side by side to the one above.

depends on situation:

kodak 14n (with strobes only)

nikon d1x (natural light and strobes, any event requiring fast action, i.e. mardi gras, etc.)

olympus C-5050 (outdoors, natural light, inconspicuous travel camera)

E-20 is getting old, the 5050 is better in my opinion, better auto whitebalance. E-20 has faster autofocus, thats about the only better thing with it.

Only problems with the 5050 are:

1. the cameras own flash is too close to the objective = red eyes. But usually not a real problem as I always use studio flashes indoors.

2. Slow autofocus, this is annoying.

My pleasure

I've never understood the need for all those 8mp cameras. If you're shooting for the web, you are going to be using 72dpi anyway- most of the fancy cameras are overkill for the web.

Yep, but I also offer my pics to magazine publishers, then its good to have those extra megapixels.

In all fairness the D100 is a higher end camera. Although I'm not an expert, I think this is a great example of how not to use pro-consumer camera like the d100.
If you're gonna use a "big boy" camera learn how to light, a set first.
The 5050 is a great camera for someone who just wants to pull it out and shoot, and not worry too much about light.
I've used the D1,D100,30:30 and 50:50, and hands down the Olympus series are less worry and work.

I shoot for web, Print and DVD releases ...

FotoCam = Canon 10D

VideoCam = Sony PD150
BVW 637a (For Corporate work)
SOny D 35 (for Commercial and Broadcast though more and more clients are accepting the PD150 for broadcast )

Canon 10D sample pic:

I used to shoot with a Nikon D1 and D100

I can recommend canon.Depends on what level you need - D60/D10 is great camera but semi-professional.If you would like to go for high res print or need really fast burst then go with canon D1s (11.4 mpix) - pro stuff (and I think the best digi am so far).
Also cameras using foveon chip can produce very nice results and you don't need 6 or 8 mpix - just 3 mpix chip is the same quality result and color depht.
Also the camera body is definitevly not the most important part of your photo equipment - all depends on your skill of using the right lenses and lighting
anyway www.dpreview.com will answer all your question
