No, I said I am open to offers and have not stated that I expect a sale to the value of 12 months of potential income, there is already proven income and it will only increase from there, any specific minimum figure has not been determined.

Obviously at this stage of my life I'd prefer a quick buck rather than a long term investment, hence the reason I'm open to offers for sale of the site/domain.

Anyways, here's some info for those that are confused about copyright law and fair use of copyright content, and the reasons for reviewing/commenting abilities in major sites to not break the law.

(1) the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;

As it says, that is just one of the conditions used to determine if copyright law is being broken in a court of law. If you ignored a cease and desist letter and went to court than sure, that would become an interesting part of the legal battle, however sites like MrSkin.com have been doing this for years with plenty of legal battles over this time - at the end of the day they get away with using 5 minute clips out of movies etc because they have a "Review" about that clip, and all the paying celeb sites do the SAME THING for the SAME REASON.

God dam this is off topic.

StRoGE 04-26-2004 06:25 AM

Honestly, to avoid the knitpicking your just going to have to toss out a number. These guys will be real quit to tell you if its unreasonable or not. Start with a figure that you would be quite content with, and work your way down from there.
With 5k uniques a day and growing the site has potential, even if you started over from scratch. Potential doesnt always sell though, so keep that in mind.

It's brought that in over the past 14 days or so, but at least that's an initial offer, start the bidding :-)

do you have any proof of that ?

5k traffic making $500 in 2 weeks seems high

25 initial signups to Mr Skin this month so far @ $20 per trial and $40 per signup - www.flashcash.com :P

Revell 04-26-2004 07:21 AM

mmm.. that period length is a touch over 3 weeks rather than 2, however I wasn't advertising Mr Skin during that period and made $0 through other programs and experimenting throughout the month.

My god, 80% of this thread hass had replies from people that are clueless and don't know how to read a topic through before posting their comments that are already answered.

Look at page 1 of this topic regarding copyright material, you might actually LEARN something.

stain 04-26-2004 10:55 AM

is that script custom coded?

AnnihilaT 04-26-2004 11:48 AM

Revell,

You have email from me. Im interested in making you a serious offer. Get back with me.

cheers,
anni

Rictor 04-26-2004 11:57 AM

$50...you pay me.

alan-l 04-26-2004 02:10 PM

If you're able to provide open stats including server, sponsors and such, I'd make you an offer. Plus, I'd like to know which keywords are well ranked at SE for your site, since I tried all the models in your page and even 'babe focus' and you're not listed between Google's 50 top results, even tho you list #1 for babefocus, 1050 searchs according overture :)

Revell 04-26-2004 07:50 PM

Yes the site is custom coded, with a phpBB forums utilized with some customization.

As for Google, the obvious popular celebrities are not ranked very high, such as 'Sarah Michelle Gellar', however, look at this and you'll see that all the galleries and celebrities are individually spidered and the lesser known celebrities produce alot of hits, there's a few thousand hits from Google searches alone per day.

Not worth the hassle to fight on this board..

psyko514 04-26-2004 07:55 PM

what's your current top offer?

Revell 04-26-2004 10:58 PM

I've had offers over $5,000 for 50/50 partnership revsharing so far - alot of partnership offers but not many outright purchase offers as yet.

Revell 04-27-2004 05:19 AM

Anyone else interested? :-)

Good luck with the sale. I think I was the only person in GFY history to offer a paysite for sale that was generally well received - mostly because I posted just about every stat I had in the initial post.

Still, I didn't sell it. As has been stated, most cash offers were like 3-4 months sales, an absurdly low number. I ended up just doing nothing with the site, practically no updates for 6 months and still got back twice the highest all cash offer.

Later, I started to update and improve the site and tripled the sales easily, and now I am reall happy it never sold. :glugglug

I think its a truism that its hardly worth the bother selling adult sites, if you are making any kind of money at all just let it wither and die and collect the proceeds in the meantime - personally, I'd rather burn down any business of mine then sell it for 1/4 of annual sales, just my :2 cents: .

scoreman 04-27-2004 06:51 AM

that goddamn spyware toolbar that tries to install itself from your site is enough for me to want to leave your site and never come back. You ought to seek out less offensive revenue streams, that one is the digital equivalent of a forced enema.

It was just one of many various revenue experiments on the site - plus you're not exactly the target consumer are you? You aren't likely to pull out your credit card for porn are ya? :P

I would bet that a lot of adult webmasters (real ones, not just the surfers who think GFY is cool) have a credit card and have purchased at least one paid membership during their AW lifetime. I have.

BTW: Toolbars suck, you'll make more sales from returning visitors than you think. They won't come back if you have shit like that on your site.
