What's the best non-U.S. hosting solution?

What's the best non-U.S. hosting solution? Can one put a rack in Tijuana, right across the border and keep the U.S. speeds?

Who knows the answer to this? I may be interested in massive offshore bandwidth.

I'm happy with our canadian bandwidth - most of the peers are still US, so you don't lose anything other then the amount of total fiber.

In Canada, if you're looking for Adult + Mailer + "Advertised" sites, in a decent level of commit, you'd be much happier going with 360Networks/Group Telecom.

I've been in the biz since 2000...and can say without reservation your best solution -- overall, not just non-US -- is XXXWebhost.nl. Service is personal, connection is the fastest we've had (jumped 25% in first week of hosting after moving from a major US provider). Prices were also better than any US company. It's connected through the best in EU, fast, reliable, and REAL people which gets overlooked by most until something is wrong, I doubt anything would make me look elsewhere. These guys are just amazing. Questions? ICQ me 92621328 - I do not and will not take commission from them - just they're phenomenal.

Group Telecom is one of the biggest ripoffs I have seen. They were charging upwards of $20/gig (CDN) for overage and had some very insecure networks in which a DDOS attack on my landlord generated hundreds of gigs of bandwidth. My landlord is in court disputing the $10,000+ bill he got from them. I refuse to even look at a host who will not try to secure their own network and then offload the cost onto a client. In previous months, he only paid $200/month.

Things there have changed a lot - or maybe my sales guy is just damn good, I've got them bellow 100$/mbit now. Which in canada (especially atlantic canada), that's a good rate. They also waived their network access fee, and gave me 50% discount on rackspace and power.

They're worth looking at since they've been purchased by 360Networks.

Yup, we dont tolerate spam... no matter how much bandwidth you push (we being ezprovider.net)...

Rick, elaborate a bit on your question... what is your reasoning for non us bandwidth?

If this is possible this is the best solution. The problem with offshore (bp) hosting most of the time comes not only from uptime issues but always lackluster maintenance.

I'm glad you asked. This thread has nothing to do with BP hosting and everything to do with me not wanting anything to do with the U.S. My goal is to get everything outside the border so I don't have to worry about someone holier than thou kicking my door down and taking everything I own.

I went to an online gaming show in Toronto one time and a lawfirm was pitching me on opening a casino in an indian reservation just outside Montreal. I'm looking for that type of situation. The bottom line is upstream providers will shut you down for spam regardless of location and I don't want spam anyway. I realize that I posted a thread on BP hosting a while back but keep in mind that I had so many rules attached to that thread that no one even took me up on it.

I simply want freedom of expression and the ability to operate my business without concern for the moral majority.

Look no further then Canada - hell even Michael Moore puts his anti-us "freedom of speech" to the internet from Canadian soil.

Yes and no. The issue is yet to be truely determined by the courts and I'll be damned if I'll be the first.

I know the answers...

Yes you can, but its not going to be cheap.. I went down there thinking the same thing.. They charge per $ 1500.00 (USA) per meg... You can get a rack for about 1k.. Let me know if you need more help..

That's just it. I'm not looking to increase my costs or do bullet-proof hosting from this service. I push a gig a second in bandwidth so every 10 dollars a meg costs me 10,000 dollars.

These guys will be able to set you up in Sweden. I'm guessing you could probably get bandwidth for about $100/mb given that quantity. They are colocation only though.
Let me know if you want me to talk to them for you.

I hear you Rick. I am also planning for that possibility in the near future. In the end, we will all need out own data hosts, our own bank, our own country.
