What do you think is the most money ever spent on a music video?

I heard these things can cost around 30 million but that doesnt m ake much sense to me..

I could see a video reaching maybe 5 million or so but probably not much more.

What do you guys think?

Ugh ? 30 millions ? We are talking about million ... sometimes multi millions but not anywhere near 5 or 30 . Eminem & Dre together made 33 millions profit TOGETHER during the last year .

The music industry isn't makign enough money to produce 30 millions videos ... hell the passion of the christ cost lest then that to produce

$30 million? I don't think so... feature films with the highest special effects don't even go above $50 mil...

If I remember right, Puff Daddy had the most expensive video (can't even remember the song, but remember helicopters and a yacht) and I think it was in the $15 million range.

I heard that "Rolling" by Limp Biskit cost one million, but I don't know if that's true.

Scream's" $7,000,000 price tag is more than twice as much as the next most expensive music video (Puff Daddy's "Victory" at $2.7 million), and it's easy to see why: he spent $5 million alone on 11 sets. Yet while watching the video, it all seems incredibly wasteful, not coming close to the film quality of "Thriller", "November Rain," or "Victory."

Cost 10000 $ a day to get good cars, even if you get 100 it won'T cost more then 100k $ . let's say 5000-10000 $ for jewelery location, Girl are very cheap, most of them are strippers and they are happy to be there to party . Let's say 20-50 k $ for the girls .
Nowhere near a million . Then you got the staff and the rest that cost a lot too...

But rap videos don't cost that much ...
Certain does, like em's video and other with high special effects probably the black eye peas one.

those are great references...you can look up production and advertising costs...

most major Hollywood movies these days are WAY above $50 million..The Alamo was over $150 million, Terminator 3 was almost $190 million, Titanic was over $120 million, etc.

Even 1 million for a music video is pretty insane if you ask me. They're getting ripped off if they're spending anywhere near 30mil.

don't forget production costs, locations costs, editing, crew, film/video quality, directors salary, etc.

MTV had a special called Most Outrageously Expensive Videos but I couldn't find a transcript for it or a list on the MTV website, but I believe Puff Daddy outspent Michael Jackson

at the time Michael Jackson set the record for biggest budget music video, i'm not sure anybody since has spent more money.
I would think that 1-2 million would be about max any record company would spend on a video though with some of these rap guys like Puff Daddy they might spend more cuz guys from the ghetto spend it as fast they make it.

big budget feature films go way over 50 million, over 100 million.
i'm not sure what the average budget for a feature film is these days but it's probably 30 million, that's for your standard movie released by a big studio not some summer blockbuster.

Yep, it was definitely Scream although it didn't cost $7 million. I heard the real figure was closer to 2.2 mil. Never believe the music industry smoke and mirrors.
