Agreed, and the last thing I would ever want to see happen is that. Fact is I love the freedom of speech we enjoy here, I love that someone can bitch about Isreal or Iraq or the French, while others call them morons and piss back etc etc... It's loads of fun. The freedome of expression and opinion we enjoy here goes well beyond that of most other boards......


but I'm talking about basic respect and tact. I'm not talking about taking away one's right to voice their opinion and I'm sure Lens isn't doing that either. What I'm talking about is when addressing one of these contestants that we try to do it without the snide needless unproductive insults that some like to fly at others to make themselves look good, or make themselves feel like big men. It's about respect, because after all... this contest is business. When it gets right down to it, it's business.

Just as Lens doesn't put up much with people making false unfounded accusations at companies and programs etc, so too is he right to ensure that idiots don't make any idiotic snide hurtful comments to the contestants. There is arguing your point or getting it across intelligently, and then there is outright schoolyard retarded mindless insults. I'm all for free speech, but in this case I see the need for a line to be drawn.

This board is called GFY and a lot posts are just damn nasty and/or mean, but boys and girls should be treated equal. I am not going to change my posting habits just because a poster entered in the missGFY contest.

Well this is a tough one.

I happen to treat women with a lot of respect and I'm not the type to be blatantly crude, but a lot of the younger guys here are sometimes that way to the GFY girls. I don't think its with true malicious intent, but more just for the drama of the moment trying to be cool and getting attention by being an asshole.

I think the women here are extremely tough skinned. Sometimes it amazes me how well they can turn the tables on someone who attacks them verbally.

I think you need to clearly define hassle. More guys hassle other guys here than women, so why should it only be the women who are protected? In a way that's kind of like a putdown to the women by applying it just to them as if they aren't tough enough to kick butt back themselves. Which again, I think most all are quite good at standing up for themselves.

Best way to lay down the law is to just say the golden rule of life.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

i don't think 'idiot' is a male or female term, it's gender neutral

After reading these posts, I'm seeing a very clear point being made:

This is GFY. Take it or leave it. for the most part, it's the crude, nasty remarks made to incite a reaction that gets people so upset, male or female. The ignore feature works well for that.

As KRL said, the golden rule applies here. "Do unto others as you would have done unto you" makes a great deal of sense.

But the rude comments, the crass insults, and pathetic debasement of girls in a contest or who make their living by being the content that we all try so hard to sell, that's what Lens seems to be cracking down on, and I don't blame him. Thanks a million Lens.

I treat everyone equally and call it like I see it. Why disrespect a lady just for doing porn when once you get to know her you can probably find better material that really matters. We're all in the same biz just respect people for actually working and doing something with their life whether you like what they do or not.

Tala, do you really think KRL's wisdom will apply? It is my of thinking too but the nature of this board is different. And many posted the same opinions before your boss, posted his thoughts yet phrasing it differently. If Lens wants to protect the contestants, it is his right.

I will still continue to post as I posted in the past, it is my right and won?t cry if Lens bands me if a missGFY complains about me but I doubt if I will post on any missgfy threads unless I can be real :)

When I signed up for the Miss GFY contest I had a couple of dudes be really really mean to me and hurt my feelings so bad .. needless to say.. I dropped out of the contest and I swore to never come back.

Could be that you prejudge what I have to say usually rather than look at it objectively. Step back and don't hate me and you'll find that a lot of what I have to say makes more sense than people are comfortable with.

I'm glad that Lens is protecting the contestants, but at the same time, I feel that GFY is indeed GFY. People are going to be mean, rude, and downright nasty about some things; that's just part of this board's appeal. But when it comes down to it, if you can talk the talk, you'd better be able to walk the walk or you might as well call it a day now.

Like I said earlier, I think what Lensman is looking for are the people who go out of their way to be caustic toward the Miss GFY contenders. I hope like hell he gets rid of the rabble, because this stands to be a good contest. :thumbsup

Trust me when I say, Lens is not "just" talking about the contest, I have seen him ban a few for being "out of line" like, attacking peoples family, ect. He is a fair guy!:winkwink:
