Where is the logic behind this?

Mr. Bob, a surfer who enjoys his daily fix of smut in the morning and the evening after work, browses the internet with a popup-blocker enhanced browser. Mr. Bob ain't no dumbass, popups get on his nerves and therefore he decided to block them... say he found out about googlebar.

So he browses porn here and there, as suddenly his work space gets flooded with 2 popunders (which, by the way can't be right-clicked and closed, only Alt-F4 works), that are chained with further chained exits.

Can some of you people explain to me, what the logic is behind trying to bypass the popup blocker and still pop ads to the surfer, who believes he won't be bothered by them anymore?

I see exploits here and there, and as much as they annoy the piss out of me, I don't see neither effect nor logic.

Bad ethics or not, I still don't see the reason behind even going the extra step and finding out how to pass by the blocker.

Because in my humble opinion, the surfer won't give a flying fuck about the win_dow anyway.

You don't get the point. No matter how many are popped, if the surfer considers himself protected against popups, then no matter how many he gets, he'll ignore them.

The marketing model of blocker bypassing popups is flawed imo.

Something should be done. I mean it's dumb really.
But what can you do. There are work around for almost everything.

just stupid marketing, plain and simple...why pop something up to a surfer that hates pop ups? probably piss him off more times than make a sale.

M$ will release its new IE mid this year. It will have its own popup blocker built in. That will be the death of popup advertizing, anyway.

Yep and tons of potential customers are lost forever that way.

And a lot of surfers think things like that are "viruses" if it results in their computers crashing, etc. I know people who are scared of surfing any porn because of such things.

Very few seem to even realize what kinda change this will have for the industry in the next year, year and a half.

Microsoft advocates the free updates through their website... once IE7 this the virtual shelves, many programs will hafta be forced to change their business model...
