F717 as video camcorder?

I received my F717 a couple days ago and was playing around with it, I noticed it did video aswell. I plugged it into the back of my vcr and noticed the quality was pretty good to do a little in-house online show. I was wondering, if I was to purchase a video card with TV-IN would the F717 be a good option to capture video for online use, and use a separate microphone and plug it into my sound card for the audio, or is it better to buy a MiniDV camcorder?

The MPEGS are shit, and I do notice a little slow down on the video through TV OUT. What do you guys/gals recommend as a online content camera?

Would a VX1000 be more than enough for online content? And possibly DVD/VHS content?

I wouldn't recommend it. The video mode seemed to be more of an afterthought than anything. It doesn't capture quick motion well.

Awesome digital camera though!

I started using a Canon ZR65, which worked fine for amateur shit, but quickly upgraded to Sony DCR-VX2000, better for screencapping, the cheaper digital cams still do nice video, just bad resolution, esp for full size tgp style pics.

MY friend uses it and it suits him well. lighting is more important than camera.
