I had that happen to me a little while ago, went from a PR5 to a PR0 then up to a PR4 on one of my sites, baffled me too.

one of my sites that has been a 6 until the last update, keeps bouncing between a 5 and a 6, maybe 10 times a day...never seen anything like it before...
