They don't want freedom or democracy. They have a tribal society.
The thought of a member of a different tribe having an equal vote to theirs drives them nuts.
A lot of Iraqis - certainly not all but a large number of them - are a bunch of inbred, low IQ, uncivilized killers and rapists. Sadaam dealt with them by putting them in prison and killing them- unfortunately, that is the only way to deal with these types of sub-humans. And that is exactly what the US is doing with them now. They just redefine them by calling them "insurgents", but they are the same scum that Sadaam was dealing with. The difference is that Sadaam understood who the enemy was and how to control them.
Most societies throughout history would overthrow brutal dictators and tyrants - that didn't happen in Iraq, because they knew that the only way to keep any semblance of order was to put your thumb down on these types of people. Checkoslovakia was the same way - a bunch of tribes who all hated each other. So, how do you keep order in a society like that ??? By giving them a democracy ? Give me a break !

The reality is they want democracy but they don't know they want it. You don't change a culture in a year or two years, it takes 20 years or more to change. They've never had a republic or democracy to know and religion is far too important in their culuture. Many places in the world were once like this, but this land has been left behind because it was never very important until they found oil.

The Iraqis will embrace democracy but they won't do it on a microwave style like King George thought, it will take them 20 years, hell maybe even 30 or 40 years to get there. But we'll never stick around that long so within 5 years we'll be pulling out and they'll take step back from reaching that point.

And that's primarily because Americans on average don't see Iraqi lives or any other lives as equal value to their own so they'll never have the will to stick things out for the greater good.

I think he was talking about Yugoslavia, which kind of gives you a handle on his knowledge of world affairs.

Muslims hated Saddam believe it or not. He was a secular dictator. He gave money to Palestinian families to avoid trouble himself and keep his country free of problems to some degree. Tell me where you've seen an accurate number on how many people Saddam killed.
